We had the good fortune of connecting with Mika Richard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mika, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
Walking away from financial stability. I resigned from my career and walked away from the comfortability of the lifestyle I was accustomed to, benefits and stability only to venture into the unknown realm of entrepreneurship.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
“Now keep in mind that I’m an Artist, and I’m sensitive about my Shhhhhhh…”,Erykah Badu. The kitchen is my workspace, the ingredients are my mediums, the palate is my canvas and the food, desserts and creative dishes I prepare are my art. Everyday I’m amazed at my growth, especially being self taught with only 2 years of experience and absolutely no formal culinary education. Leaving the medical field and diving head first into the culinary field has been quite a challenge but nothing that my perseverant personality can’t handle.
The greatest lesson I’ve learned is having patience with myself and giving myself grace to grow professionally at my own pace.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So, of course they’d absolutely receive The “Rich Experience” of Rich Treatery because it’s definitely a must lol. Whenever anyone is coming into town they always say “I don’t care what it is, I want your food”!! I’d have to take them to my favorite Bar/Grill Brewski’s which is in downtown Little Rock. I’d definitely show them around the city, take a trip to Hot Springs for a relaxing lake day. We’d definitely visit the Food Truck scene at “The Lot” in NLR and if time permits, head over to Memphis for a little fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God, my family, my best friend and my supporters have shown me such an immense amount of love. The support from my family has been unwavering and without them and God placing all the right people in my path, none of this would be possible.
