We had the good fortune of connecting with Milan Aron and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Milan, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born in California, but Queens, NY raised me. It’s quite a story for another time, but I didn’t grow up in wealthy families. In fact, my brother and I were wards of the state. My father passed at a very young age, and I met my mother just a few years ago. I’ve learned independence mostly from experiences and have found that adversity breeds lessons AND blessings. I use this wisdom when I find myself feeling defeated. I put God first with everything. Real Estate is hard. Entrepreneurship is hard. Overcoming adversity at a young age is hard. My perseverance comes from the life I’ve envisioned for myself and knowing there’s no other option. If I write it in my to-do book, it’s happening.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My focus currently includes Real Estate and Marketing Consulting. I love helping my clients find their dream home. I’ve been in the real estate industry for less than a year. My first closing arrived four months after receiving my license and was in the millions; I couldn’t believe it. I felt in that moment every single decision I’ve made up until that point, placed me in that position. My personality is curious; I’ve tried multiple businesses that failed. Life ebbs and flows. The cool part about it is, you never know what will happen next. I enjoy the suspense of it all. I’ve learned that you must plant many different harvests and let them grow while you work on the others. Eventually, you’ll have a full garden.
What sets me apart is I’m honest with my clients and I feel they respect that the most. I ask questions to gauge their ideas, style, likes and dislikes. One quality I have is knowing how to navigate different personalities. Anyone in sales can tell you this is probably a good skill to possess.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is quite the city. My favorite thing to do while I’m in town is try the hot new restaurants. If a friend were visiting, we’d definitely experience Sunday Funday. Houston is known for its culture of boozy brunches and inviting atmosphere. During the week, I like to be in the zone and stay up to date with my fitness. One of my favorite Pilates studios is Solid Core. So, I’d probably invite my friend to join. In the evenings, we would probably get sushi at Roka Akor. I’m an avid Yelper, so finding a new place isn’t a difficult feat. I love a good speakeasy, so I’d probably take them to my favorite stop, Clarkwood, for their espresso martinis or bachata at Secret Garden on a Friday.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, I have so many people to thank. But I want to thank God first. He’s put me in and taken me out of many situations that brought me to this very moment, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Secondly, I would like to thank, (in no particular order) my very good friend Anjali, my mentors, my old college roomie Allyssa, my late grandmother and my aunt Sonya. I also want to thank my girls Vicky, Erin, Heather for their friendship and love throughout the years. And to my big brother, Dante, whom I love with all my heart. I’ve met a lot of incredible people and can confidently say I’ve learned at least one thing from each.
An African proverb that has been recited by many greats goes like this: “If You Want to Go Fast, Go Alone. If You Want to Go Far, Go Together.” This is one of my favorite quotes because most of us know, your network is your net worth. No one can do it all alone. My journey is just getting started.
