We had the good fortune of connecting with Miranda Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miranda, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want people to remember me as the fun, loving, out going girl that went above and beyond not only for her kids but for others as well! I want people to remember that when i had nothing, alone and depressed from a failed marriage that i changed myself around, got a better job and did better to show my kids that good things happens to those who work for it!! Remember me as the girl who always had a smile on her face; even on her worst days!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I currently work in leasing. I help people find their forever home! It was definitely a learning process and took lots of patience but I’ve got the hang of it and are helping lots of others! It was tough getting where i am today, I had mo prior experience in an actual career! I worked at bars and minimum wage run down businesses just to get by, My friend got my foot in door by telling her boss about me. Once i got the interview, I was just being my goofy self and they loved me! Tattoos was the biggest thing for them because its such a professional job but i quickly covered them to show them i was serious about this job and they brought me aboard giving me a chance. Now its my time to shine and show what im capable of doing!! The biggest lesson i learned is always follow your heart and dont down play your self!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Im a big kid at heart so my favorite spots are the museums and family friendly restaurants! Houston has some amazing food, my personal favorites are Texas Roadhouse, the burger joint, millers, just mac and cheddars! A good spot to drink i like for some good music is whiskey river! My friends definitely love dancing so that is my go to place!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My spouse Chris Duran. He has gone above and beyond for me. He’s helped push me to become the person i am today. In a short time he’s changed me not only physically but mentally and broke me out of my bad habits! He’s shown me that not all guys are the bad guys! He’s loved me and my kids unconditionally, helped us when we had nothing, and found a way when i couldn’t. He’s amazing! My bestfriend who is also my forever love
