We had the good fortune of connecting with Mireya and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mireya, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Our business was born from a deep desire for independence, but also from a passion to bring joy and positive energy to our community. Through dance, we create a space where people can release stress, disconnect from daily pressures, and reconnect with themselves in a healthy and uplifting way. Dance has the power to heal, to reduce tension, and to transform an ordinary day into something vibrant and meaningful.

One of our greatest focuses is working with young girls. We believe it is essential for children to stay connected to their cultural roots and heritage. Through salsa and bachata, they not only learn movement — they learn identity, pride, and tradition.

Beyond culture, our classes instill discipline from an early age. Discipline, consistency, and commitment developed in childhood help shape stronger, more responsible adults. Dance improves coordination, physical strength, flexibility, and overall health. It teaches teamwork, confidence, and self-expression.

Our mission goes beyond teaching steps — we are building confident, healthy, culturally connected individuals who carry joy, discipline, and strength into every area of their lives.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our academy was built from passion, resilience, and a deep desire for independence. What sets us apart is that we combine professional structure with authentic Latin culture. We don’t just teach dance steps — we teach discipline, confidence, heritage, and character.

This journey was not easy. Building a business as a couple requires sacrifice, long hours, financial risk, and emotional strength. There were moments of doubt, challenges in growth, and the constant pressure of maintaining high standards while raising a family. But every obstacle strengthened our vision. We learned that consistency, faith, and discipline are more powerful than talent alone.

What makes us different is that our academy is rooted in real cultural experience. My husband’s lifelong trajectory in Latin dance and our shared commitment to excellence allow us to teach from authenticity, not imitation. At the same time, we intentionally created a professional environment where children — including our own granddaughters — can grow with structure, coordination, physical strength, and strong values.

I am most proud that we have built more than a business — we have built a legacy. We are creating a space where culture is preserved, families feel connected, and young girls grow into confident, disciplined young women.

What I want the world to know is that our brand represents independence, family, culture, and purpose. Dance can change lives — not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. And when you build something with love and discipline, it becomes bigger than you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my family visits from Mexico, I love showing them both sides of Houston — the natural beauty and the vibrant city life. One of our favorite places to go is Buffalo Bayou. It gives them that connection to nature they love — open spaces, trails, fresh air — while still being surrounded by the energy of the city skyline. They enjoy hiking and being outdoors, so it’s the perfect place to feel grounded and at peace while still experiencing Houston.

For food, I always like introducing them to something different. Vietnamese cuisine is one of our favorites — they love trying pho and other dishes that are full of flavor and culture. Houston’s diversity really shines through its food, and sharing that experience with them makes it even more special.

Of course, no visit is complete without shopping. The Galleria is always a must. It’s not just about shopping — it’s about the full experience. The atmosphere, the energy, the variety — it gives them a taste of the scale and excitement of the city.

For me, the best part of hosting family is blending culture, nature, food, and city life into one experience. Houston offers that perfect balance.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I want to dedicate this shoutout to my husband — my life partner and my business partner. His cultural roots, lifelong dedication to Latin dance, and professional experience are the true foundation of our academy. Dance is not just something he learned; it is part of his identity and heritage. Through him, our students experience authenticity, tradition, discipline, and deep respect for Latin culture.

Building this dream together as a couple has required trust, sacrifice, and resilience. What we have created is more than a dance studio — it is a reflection of our shared passion, our culture, and our commitment to excellence.

I also want to recognize our granddaughters. They became one of the biggest inspirations behind creating a space of our own. We wanted a place where they could learn and grow in a professional environment — structured, disciplined, and high quality — while still feeling deeply connected to their Latin roots. That vision shaped everything. We didn’t just want classes; we wanted a strong, culturally rich, and joyful environment for the next generation.

Because of them, we became even more intentional about discipline, coordination, health, and character development. We believe that when children grow up surrounded by culture, structure, and love, they become stronger and more confident adults.

This journey is built on family, culture, passion, and purpose — and I am grateful every day to build it with the people I love most.
