We had the good fortune of connecting with Mr Mustache and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mr, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’d like to think I chose to pursue it, but in reality I think it chooses you. Everyone is born with certain tendencies, gifts, talents and skills. The question is are they going to head their calling and listen to what their own soul is saying? Most don’t. But if you get quiet enough to listen then you’ll know the way for you. And if you do, then the world will be a better place because of your unique contribution to it. Another thing that I would add is that my goal hasn’t been so much a creative career as it is to live a spiritual life. I want to make the world better, to help fix what I see broken and I use my creativity for that purpose. It’s a vehicle for life’s journey. Service is greater than success At the end of the day the only thing that will matter to any of us is: What effect did I have on others? Was it good?
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an artist I am not trying to be seen. I am striving to see others. That makes me different I suppose than most artist who want to be seen. But the road to serving others through the gift of painting was not easy. Although I have found my lane and it’s easier now. For your lifes mission you have to be dedicated to it with your whole heart and realize when you’re leaving the dock that there is no turning back. This is me. This is my purpose. And I am going. The end. So it takes courage. But it’s scarier not to do it and get to the end of your life and know in your heart that you did it all wrong. Be true to your own melody and sing your own song. As the saying goes: Be you because everyone else is already taken.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To Dror Moshe Cassuto – Who helped me believe that something different was possible
