We had the good fortune of connecting with Mustaf Alki and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mustaf, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The business has always been there, it is a family business for the past 4 generations across the middle east and north Africa but no one was managing it, so during the COVID-19 lockdown, I decided to study the art of incense from my grandfather and bring our products and services to the market.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Master of Incense is a family-owned incense business that was originally established in Oman in 1910 but left unmanaged for a really long time because of my grandfather’s illness, my father had no plans to run the business but I always had an interest in making incense ever since I was a kid, I would watch my grandfather making incense sticks and cones and would show me how to do it. I decided to keep the company running in the U.S and make everything online for now and hopefully open a store in the future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Velvet taco would be one of the first spots I would take a friend to eat, then show them around the medical center. another spot would be the Nobu in the galleria and the area around it. Another area would be Montrose area and the bars around there.
