Meet Myla Lott | Doula & Flight Attendant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Myla Lott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Myla, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
How can I do something that I love but make an income while doing it!? With the thought in my head……how does the saying go???? You’ll never work another day in your life if you’re doing something you love?! I wonder if I can make that happen twice, but this time it’ll belong to me?! That’s where Sky Angel Doula was started!! Regardless if it’s on a Jet or giving birth, I’m that Angel to keep you on cloud 9!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what I really want is that every person I come across is to feel completely comfortable. I want you to feel like family. If you’ve never felt like you’ve had someone to talk to, I want you to feel that way now. Life can be hard, sometimes you just need that extra push and someone in your corner, let that be me, I want to cheer you on in life, in birth! We’re going to push through this together, you will not be alone!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Blend!! Blend Cigar Bar in The Woodlands would be a must. Wouldn’t matter if day or night, if we felt like getting snazzy or staying relaxed, Cameron and the rest of their amazing staff would treat you one in the same! While we’re in the area, may as well stop by Northshore park for a relaxing picnic or to do a little fishing, maybe if we’re lucky catch some free live music in the park on a weekend. Then making our way downtown to checkout The House of Blues for dinner, drinks, and a concert!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I want to dedicate my shoutout to my family!! My husband Brandon, and our 4 amazing kids. Patience, Touré, Uziah, and Zariah have all been awesome! If wasn’t for their support and encouragement, I’m not sure I would’ve ever ventured out. My parents Maurice and Theresa Edwards along with sister, Marixa, played a big supporting part as well, and still do. Marixa is also now a Doula in Virginia. Not to mention the amazing sister circles and connections that have been made through mentor ship, partnership, backup, and just someone to give you that extra push. Including DONA, especially with Ravae Sinclair and Nakia Lawson. Maternity Journey, Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, Alysia Kowis, Enchanted Birthing Services, Tiara Miller, A Motherly Embrace, Erin Young, Houston Birth and Baby, Nicole Obenshine, Womb Light Academy, Poppyseed Health, Children’s Connections INC. I know there are some not listed, but not forgotten, I can’t thank each and everyone of you enough!! And with the flexibility from my first career, it allowed for a second to happen beautifully, thank you Herb! Last but not least, I must Include Houston Voyage, that makes me want to push even harder!! Thank you!!
