We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadra, Abe and Maz Breir and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nadra, Abe and Maz, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Automating the shipping process was very important to our success and having the tools at our fingertips for reporting purposes etc. Not to forget as well that we joined a couple of retail shipping associations who help and guide stores like mine who are not part of a franchise. Attending the yearly convention also helps make us feel part of a bigger group and we get introduced to what the big shippers are doing.
What should our readers know about your business?
The shipping industry is no different than others as far as expecting changes and nothing ever stays the same. So the big carriers, along with the giant Amazon have gotten people accustomed to instant gratification, where delivery is next day, or within two days max. Same day deliveries and drone deliveries are being contemplated. So change has been the norm. There is a “Trust” factor that we have built with our customers. They trust that we will offer them the best options for their needs whether it’s speed, or the most economical way. They trust us that we will have the proper box or envelope, pack their item(s) in the most professional way, and trust that whether it’s local or international shipping they’ve come to the pros.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, we’d have to do a Galveston trip and try and spend a weekend there by the water. Then there’s Old Town Spring, and the Woodlands, lots to see and plenty of restaurants with various cuisines. The Galleria for shopping is must. If it were in February then the Rodeo would be an outing. Other times of the year are various sporting events, whether it’s a football, baseball, basketball or soccer is another way to entertain my friend. Let’s not forget the Theatre and Arts museums. All these are pre Covid activities for sure
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My late husband started the business 30 years ago, and it was a big gamble for us, but we have to give thanks first to the Lord. But truly, it was our friend Munir, who owned a shipping franchise, guided him on how to set up the whole store. Then his customer service skills, care and sincere appreciation of our customers he built a business where we’re appreciated and needed by the community.
