We had the good fortune of connecting with Nana Kobe Adjapong and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nana Kobe, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Attentiveness. Being attentive to customers or in my case guests that I provide a stay for , be it short term or long term.I really don’t know where I got that from personally, but I always picture my self in the shoes of all the guests that I host And try to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
Automating, I still work on personal projects and also have a 9/5 so i make space for relaxation and in order to have a sense of relaxation I have to automate tasks which brings a lot of peace in my well being.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It is tough for me to decide which area I want to focus on in this interview, I could go into how I transition from being an engineer to a data scientist or I can talk about my love for creating algorithms that perform actions or I can talk about Photography journey or I could also talk about being an Airbnb host, but I think I’ll focus on the latter because this might be a way for me to exit the corporate world. Being an Airbnb host was just a stroke of luck, I happened to host my personal living space during Super Bowl in Houston and I saw the demand for people wanting to stay in actual homes aside the normal hotel stays, so right after the Super Bowl I decided to take a risk by approaching apartments with the business idea of hosting guests and that’s how I started my Airbnb journey. It wasn’t easy but I learned quickly that in order to have a successful Airbnb space you would have to make sure all guests are comfortable as much as possible so, that’s what I live by ; making sure the guests are extremely comfortable and they could reach out to me at any given time during their stay. In the end I want all the guests to know that I want the best for them, and to be known to build and create cool living spaces for people to vacate to and relax at ease.
