Meet Nancy Patino | Stitch braider

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy Patino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nancy, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor is my success is letting God provide while I just do what I love to do. Also the support people have gave me throughout this journey. Family, friends , and strangers have pushed and supported every step I take next.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started braiding as a hobby something I truly enjoyed. I would braid my friend’s hair in high school, even some teachers. I never really did it for the money but the reaction of their faces . Braiding became more of a therapeutic thing for me through the years. I was still braiding my friend’s hair and just kept trying new styles. As I learned more and more I started taking pictures and tried to spread the word for new clients. It was hard at first to start a business with no knowledge just a dream. I met amazing people along the way that helped me grow as a braider and business owner. The ride has been a good flow I still have a way to go but it’s easier just letting Gods plan play out as I work hard for what I love and want.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Depending on the weather in Houston I would start with a walk around discovery green and go to restaurants around or eat at Katz Delis. Through out the week during work hours is the best time to explore Houston. There is many locations to take photos and have good view in houston like Hermann park or Buffalo bayou. I would definitely stop by la unica taco truck in Alief.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to someone who has seen me go through it all, stood by my decisions and my ups and down. Someone who has shown me great work ethics and to keep pushing through. Someone who is so strong no one can knock her crown off which is my mom. Thank you for doing your best everyday and never giving up.
