We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathan Nordstrom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nathan, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Every day I wake up is another chance to create something beautiful. To give up is to quit on my dream.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started out painting graffiti on the streets in 1990. After putting in 15 years worth of work I transitioned into doing art professionally. It’s been a long road with many ups and downs but those challenges made me who I am today. I got into art because it made me feel good and I love to create. I am proud of the contributions I’ve made to the art form I love in my city of Austin,Texas.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friends come to visit Austin, One of the first things I would do is show them the city on a bicycle. I would show them my murals and take them to my favorite Taqueria. Then we would go paint!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give credit to the Most High first and foremost and the many people who never gave up on me.
