We had the good fortune of connecting with Nesita Myles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nesita, how do you think about risk?
I am a very big risk taker. I don’t believe you’ll ever truly reach your full potential until you have taken risks that get you out of your comfort zone. Although, I absolutely think of the probability of my success with whatever risk I am taking more often than not I am willing to take risks in order to achieve my goals. Taking risks has been a necessity this past year alone. With the uncertainty of the economy and Covid-19 everything has been very up and down. I have since quit my job to focus solely on my passion and what I have been called to do which has been the ultimate risk of all for me. Betting on myself to succeed. It has been a risk in the making, but I am confident in my skills, and will to bring my business to the forefront of my city as well as getting out my dreams.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most excited about what’s next for myself and my business. I have a natural talent for what I do and I want nothing but to continue doing what I love, positively impact others lives, and teach anyone who wants to learn the tricks of the trade. It has been a scary journey nonetheless but it has been worth every moment of fear. It has been nothing closed to easy, but I know I have been taught everything I needed in order to fulfill my purpose on earth. It’s an everyday reminder to be in the moment and not stress or worry about the future. You’re only in control of the very moment you’re living in. I have learned to watch what I am saying about myself and my business. You get exactly what you ask for so you have to be clear and concise with your affirmations.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I hate to say it but I live in the kitchen so please do not take offense to my low key homebody life. I am a simple woman who loves good food, drinks, and nerdy things. So here it is: 8:00am Toasted Yolk for the mimosas and some brisket hash brown casserole
11:00am Houston Arboretum & Nature Center (your girl loves being outside)
3:00pm An afternoon trip to Hobby Lobby and buy whatever speaks to my soul
7:00pm Get some crawfish from BB’s with EXTRA pineapples and whatever that paste is they put on the crawfish
We can go back to my house and make margaritas because what Texan doesn’t love a good rita?
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My customers are the backbone of my business. They allow me the opportunity to be apart of their special days and major life events. I have clients that I have done wedding cakes for that blooms into making baby shower and their kids parties cakes and it’s that factor alone that makes all of the hours spent moving around worthwhile. But none of this would be possible without God and my mother. MY mother has been unknowingly planting little seeds of hope and wisdom into not only me but my business. She is a legend in my book.
