We had the good fortune of connecting with Nevert Blaylock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nevert, what matters most to you?
Values that matter to me are kindness and generosity, partly due to how I was raised by my grandparents as well as investments that were made in me by others show of kindness and generosity-

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
For well over a decade I’ve been a high school Asst Principal as well as a Lashpreneur- I’ve balanced and maintained both careers strictly on my desire to rewrite my script and create a legacy for my daughters. I’m a lifelong learner so all the education it took to maintain both positions was a challenge but necessary and required. My Grandmother put a lot of pressure on me and I wanted to please her and do something good as well. With my relocating to Houston recently I’m having to start all over with the Lash Business and rebuild clientele so I’ve been going to trainings and coaching sessions just to stay sharp.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I’m kind of low key on the regular I’d definitely take them to the historic third ward to hang out – places like the spot, and turkey leg hut. My sister owns 2 homes in the area, one right across the street from Texas Southern University so we’d also hangout with her and have a cookout- good drinks and good food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Grandmother and a host of Aunts and uncles all shared in getting me where I am today. I give all honor and glory to God had he not placed those people in my life, not sure where I’d be. I used to gv them credit as well as my hustle mentality and hard work but ultimately I realize it’s all Gods Grace and mercy –
