We had the good fortune of connecting with Niecee Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Niecee, how do you think about risk?
I’ve learned with being an entrepreneur with no risk there’s no reward. So sometimes the toughest things, or what you may feel like are the toughest things for you to do in certain cases, just have the best outcome that you initially didn’t expect to be as amazing as it will be. Therefore, I’m all for taking risk because you never know what could have been if you never take that chance and bet on yourself. I live by “faith without works is dead” meaning that after I do take that risk and bet on myself, I have it in my head that what I’m expecting is already done – I’ve already succeeded so there’s absolutely no need to worry or stress. Its done.

What should our readers know about your business?
I feel what sets Wigs By Niecee apart from other businesses is the CEO. I strive to make every interaction with my clients or customers a great experience. I’m most proud of my elevation within my craft. Things like being able to create an entire wig unit in 30 minutes or less and the small things like styling wig units better and learning new techniques. It makes me excited about my future becoming more knowledgeable to provide the best possible service. I got to where I am today following my heart of wig making, its not a job – its my passion. It was not easy at all making wigs the day after I was in a car accident in 2018 and suffered several broken bones but kept pushing through because I knew who I am today was who I was meant to be. Working two jobs and still making time to make wigs just because I knew the jobs were temporary and wigs would be forever, even though I was drained most days barely getting 4-5 hours of sleep certainly wasn’t easy but it sure was worth it for Wigs By Niecee to be what it is. I learned along the way, hard work is always necessary and sometimes you must be uncomfortable to be comfortable. I want the readers and world to know that Wigs By Niecee was created by an owner who bet on herself to see her dreams come to reality and truly has a passion for the services she provides. The work I do will never be anything less than the ultimate satisfactory experience because I prayed, worked hard and believed in the work I do too much to provide anything less. As my business grows, I will not forget the community where I was raised and plan to give back in the area. I will also not forget the person I was when I had no customers for months at a time. I will continue to be humble & provide exceptional service because that’s Wigs By Niecee.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here in Houston for a week? I’d definitely take my bestfriend (if she didn’t live here already) to eat at Ador for brunch, Moxies for a late lunch or midday meal, Capital Grille or Eddie Vs for a steak night dinner, or my ultimate favorite Grace’s for any meal during her stay. We’d visit some showcases in support of our other friend who’s an artist and hang out at places like Lost & Found which have music playing and good food or possibly head to MaxBowl for a fun chill vibe. I’d get tickets to whatever is in season – basketball, football or baseball – because thats just an exciting experience overall. If there’s a carnival or concert in town that’s definitely a must. If its during summer, Sclitterbahn is always a great time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother and grandparents for their aide in molding me to become who I am to be successful in doing what I love. My friends that love and support me in every aspect they can. My clients and customers who continuously choose me and also refer me to others. And last but definitely not least, the owner of Salon Chris – Rechristal Brantley – a helpful, uplifting, good-spirited genuine individual that deserves nothing but success! A tremendous THANK YOU ALL for the love shown to Wigs By Niecee, it’s certainly not unnoticed and I am extremely grateful for each and every one of you!
