We had the good fortune of connecting with Niki Spears and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Niki, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that without risks you will not be able to create the life that you want. I’ve always seen risk-taking as the differentiator. There are so many people that have amazing gifts and talents but because of their fears of stepping outside their comfort zones, they continue to live out the same patterns of fear and regret. Risk-taking can be scary because we are stepping into unknown territories that could lead to overwhelming success or something we deem as failure. In every role I’ve had, I’ve always engaged in risks because that is the path less travelled by others and one of the ways you can stand up and stand out. Starting my own business required a great deal of faith in God as I stepped outside of all I had become accustomed to – a regular pay check, a place I called work, and the security of having retirement. I risked all of that to follow my passion and I’ve never looked back. I’m always looking for new risks that will move God’s mission forward so that I can continue to live a purposeful, fulfilled life! One that is worth the risk!
What should our readers know about your business?
Culture Cre8ion is committed to helping schools and organizations create and sustain positive culture by having each individual in the organization assess their personal energy. I’ve always been fascinated with creating a positive environment. As a young girl growing up in a family with a lot of relationship challenges, I often studied these dynamics and tried to find solutions that would create more trusting and loving connections. What I eventually learned was that this was not something that happened outside of a person and it wasn’t something I could do for someone else, each person needed to be responsible for how they showed up and how they chose to experience the world around them. I struggled with creating a healthy personal culture for years, until about thirteen years ago all of that changed for me. My husband introduced me to a book titled, The Success Principles, by Jack Canfield. Knowing I wasn’t an avid reader at the time, he encouraged me to read the first page. The first page was all about taking responsibility for your life, something I had not yet done or even thought about doing. You see, when we take responsibility it really puts you in the driver’s seat to create the life you want. Taking personal responsibility empowers you to move from where you are to where you desire to be. Through Culture Cre8ion I now conduct keynotes, training, workshops, and multi-year plans to support organizations in creating and sustaining a positive culture. Culture Cre8ion has now been in existence since 2016 and I’m now partnering with others who have specialized talents to help teams show up and stand out in life!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were to visit me for a week long trip, I believe a spiritual retreat would be amazing. We would hop on a flight to Sedona, Arizona to a private retreat where we will learn more about ourselves and transforming our lives. We would have the opportunity to get away and relax and participate in a soul adventure that promises to refresh and rejuvenate our body, mind and spirt. We will be under the guidance of spiritual healers that will teach us how to connect with source even during the most stressful times in our lives. We will eat healthy meals and engage in mindful exercises such as meditation that teach us how to go inward for answers to challenging problems. We will attend seminars with other spiritual leaders that will teach us more about who we are and who we are meant to be in this moment. We will leave feeling less stress, more connected to God, and having a stronger connection with self.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My story is a combination of others’ stories who have shared themselves with me throughout the years – the good and what I perceived as bad. I believe that every single person that has been a part of my life has helped me evolve into the person that I am today. But if I were going to give a shoutout to one of those people it would have to be my husband, Kermit, who has supported me and pushed me to achieve things beyond my wildest dreams. When I first met Kermit he was what I referred to as a Dreamer, he was constantly sharing his dreams of a better life of what we could achieve together which was really hard for me to grasp at the time because I considered myself a Realist–someone with limiting beliefs who was only focused on what I could see in front of me. At some point I decided to join Kermit in his so-called dream world and I begin to experience life as I had never felt it before – one of hope, peace, love, and joy. I slowly began to realize that I was the creator of my story and my thoughts determined my reality. When I changed my thoughts, I changed my life! I’ve learned that when we accept limiting beliefs, we limit ourselves and our experiences. But when we can dream and imagine the life we desire, the universe responds! So shout-out to my wonderful husband for taking my life from black and white to ‘in living color!’
