We had the good fortune of connecting with Noah Smistad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Noah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always been one to dream of creating my own business and working for myself, but I never knew exactly what my business focus would be. My interest in fashion and dressing well began about two years ago when I decided to revamp my wardrobe to match my new taste in my 20s. I focused on basics, and built my own style from there. The idea of becoming a content creator first came to me through my sister who is a creator herself, and is a campaign manager for a prominent influencer marketing company. She mentioned that there is a huge opportunity for male content creators, and that I should take advantage of this. One year later I officially started my page Smittystylez, and knew she would be with me along the way. She truly believed in me, and supported me in beginning a creator account to showcase my style. I believe it is important to build a life outside of your 9-5, and fill that time with passions/hobbies that inspire you and urge you to grow. While I am still growing my page, you never know how far you can go until you decide to bet on yourself. Influencer marketing is a growing industry, and after seeing so many successful creators, including my sister, I knew this choice to start would reward me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I began my page Smitty Stylez to showcase my own style, but also to inspire others. As I mentioned earlier I was hesitant to begin my fashion focused page, but I have received so much support from not only my family, friends, but strangers as well. I have received requests to style others and give fashion advice to new and old friends and it allows me to find a designated purpose for my page. It was not an easy start as I found my footing online, but I have a great support system that will always be there for me. I created my brand to share my unique style and not just keep it to myself. From my personal experience I recognized that guys my age have a desire to explore and expand with different styles. I hope to inspire others through my platform and brand.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Although I moved to the Houston area about 10 years ago, I do have quite a few favorite spots. I would recommend eating at The Burger Joint, Gringos, or Killen’s Barbeque and be sure to pick up a chai from Pearland Coffee Roasters. I enjoy going to City Centre to walk around with friends, and shopping at Baybrook Mall or the Galleria. If you’re in town during basketball or football season, you definitely have to make it out to a Rockets or Texans Game. As a tennis player, I also enjoy catching tournaments at River Oaks, college matches at Rice, and playing tennis at Memorial Park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shout out to my sister, Olivia, for encouraging me to begin my influencing and content creator journey. I could not have done this without her!
