We had the good fortune of connecting with Noelle Methogo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Noelle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I honestly was told by one of my dear photographer friends to create a photography page, because at the time I was only posting my art on my main Instagram account and he felt as though the world needed to see my art and asked me to create a page. So my after though process was: ” Okay, I’m gonna create that page and we’ll see what happens.”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart from other creative / photographers is my ability to create art that has a vintage but yet modern quality and vibe to it. Not just with the quality of my pictures, but also the textures, colors and feelings that they convey. I also think I set myself apart by the way my photography actually celebrates womanhood and our beauty.
The two projects that I am most proud about are my black and white photoshoot inspired by the French movie ” La Haine ” because it was my first time really planning a shoot with male models, but mainly because this is something that I have been dreaming to bring to life ever since I was a teen. The second project I am most proud of is my ” Why wear a regular outfit ” project. I love it because I did not plan at all to style for this shoot as I wanted to give the models full creative control. I happened to become the main stylist and I discovered and new side of my talent.
I wouldn’t say I am where I want to be professionally yet because I am just getting started. Not getting started in photography but getting started in making this thing a business. The lessons I have learned along to way is to watermark, not trust models and photographers with your mood boards and ideas no matter how nice they seem to be. I also learned to not take anything to heart, let it fly and move on to the next project.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t really go out that much but I know one of the main things I would do with my best friend is thrift. We love thrifting so I would definitely take her to my favorites spots. When it comes to food and drink I would take her so many restaurants such as Bosscat, Marmot, Jennivi’s seafood shoppe, Sala Thai and this restaurant I recently discovered called The Crab Station.
I would also take her to my favorite park Terry Hershey Hiking Park where I always go hike and empty my mind.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my mother, because she has always listened to me talking about my dreams, goals and passion and bought me my first camera that I have been using ever since.
Other people that deserve credit in my story are all my best friend Siham and my Houston friends that let photograph them and helped me so much in my beginning stage ( Charis, Jane, Harmonie, Eddy, Margrett etc.. )
Also another person that deserves credit is my photographer friend Davis from Culture Polaroid who was the one to push me to create my photography page and made me understand that my work needs and deserves to be seen by the public.
