We had the good fortune of connecting with Norlan Zeledón and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Norlan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risks has always played a role in my business, but every risk has its reward. One of the major risks I took was investing tens of thousands of dollars into my equipment and education within my Photography niche not knowing wether I would make any return out of the business. Looking now it has allowed me to pursue my passion, make it my main job and work with big names in Houston to provide them the best quality work for their businesses. The way I think of risks is that without them I would be comfortable with subpar business, subpar outcomes all in the name of stability, but in my business risks have had a beneficial outcome in the long run.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started a photography business that specializes in jewelry photography mid pandemic in 2020, having my first major break working with Johnny Dang. Using social media to engage my audience and generate leads I was able to get to where I am today with my business. No one offered the same service I was, or offering with the quality I guaranteed, as a jeweler or business, you’d have to mail potentially millions worth of jewelry or products to studios that didn’t specialize in product photography, with my service I went to the client whether it was local or out of state which helped the business owners feel better without having to risk their inventory on shipments and damage. I had to overcome the stigma of being a young man in an industry powered by people that have been in the jewelry game for a long time. This caused me to have to try harder to prove my worth, skills, and gain people’s trust with their businesses. I’ve learned to be efficient, effective, patient; always deliver the best quality, and be the greatest at my craft. I want to revolutionize the photography industry, make professional services accessible to small and big corporations, and be the best in what I do.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
City Centre, the Galleria and absolutely have to explore discovery green.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my significant other who is also my best friend; she has pushed me and helped me throughout the process of starting and continuing my business.
