We had the good fortune of connecting with Nushin Roodgari and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nushin, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired everyday seeing single moms hold the fort down by working and raising their kids alone. Watching my mom be that woman inspired and helped me be the same. Women are so strong it’s pretty amazing.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would have to say one of my biggest transitions in life has just recently happened. With in the last 2 years. I decided to start a foodie page for fun on Instagram and Tik Tok. I honestly didn’t have any idea where it would go. My background is working in sports at Spike Sport Volleyball Club since I graduated high school. Our facility has had the honor of training young girls to become D1 volleyball athletes. Nothing has brought me more joy than watching these girls grow up into powerful young women. They also encouraged me and hyped me up with my Tik Toks. Some of them even taught me how to work Tik Tok. With in the past two years my foodie page grew pretty quickly especially my TikTok. I starting working with brands and actually getting paid influencing jobs. I was recently chosen to be part of Tik Toks LatinX Creators Campaign. This has all been so exciting and brought major change in where I see myself in the future. I have met some great women who see my same vision and wanna create a platform to help other women as well. We are so excited of what we’re putting together and what’s to come. I would have to say to women it doesn’t matter how old you are it’s never too late to make a change or follow a passion. I never thought I would be doing what I’m doing in my 40’s but here I am. Creating a brand and getting paid as an influencer/content creator. When things are meant to be the right people and things will just be put in your path and it all makes sense. I am so grateful and excited about the journey ahead and what’s to come.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston has some great food and culture. There’s so many places to visit. I would say for one our murals. We have some great murals that definitely can’t be missed. Then I would say for food barbecue. A city tour of all the delicious barbecue in Houston. Nobody compares to our barbecue. I can’t forget about our Asian community the food here is amazing. Too many to even name. Finally I would say our parks. Buffalo Bayou, Tinsley, Memorial and Discovery Green are some great parks to start with. Of course you gotta stop and see NASA, Museums and Botanical Garden. All of these spots are perfect hot spots in Houston. As a Houston Foodie I can’t begin to list all my favorite food spots there’s just too many and that’s why I started my food page.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to thank my mom she is such a hustler. Watching her work her butt of learn and succeed at her trade to opening her own business was always inspiring. Also meeting some great new business women this year and all the support we’ve been able to feed off of each other is truly amazing.
