We had the good fortune of connecting with Olga Bachilo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Olga, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My career and risk-taking go hand in hand. Whether it’s a financial decision for my business, like purchasing cutting-edge technology for the med spa or operating on a patient, I take calculated risks daily. I think risks are significant for career advancement and our life choices. Every single time you get a “what if” thought in your mind, you face a fork on your path. Getting married is a risk – what if I get a divorce? Choosing the right major in college – what if I cannot find a job or it becomes obsolete? Buying a house – what if I dislike my neighbors? Our lives are endless choices that we cannot avoid; the only difference is the level of risk – however, the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. Therefore, I always encourage calculated risk-taking, weighing pros and cons before making a decision.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Glamour Plastic Surgery and Med Spa was created as a patient-centered practice. Our goal is to deliver patients with best outcomes while taking into account their desires. One thing that sets us apart is that we truly listen to our patients and work with them to design a well-balanced plan, instead of making assumptions on what they need vs. what they want. We also stay up to date on all most innovative and advanced treatments in order to deliver our patients the best of the best. From a surgical standpoint, my goal is to deliver finest results, but also ensure that patients have the easiest and most comfortable recovery and that their entire process to transformation is as smooth as possible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love food and am so grateful to live in Houston where we have such an amazing variety. My friends and I try to maintain a Keto diet and our most common go to place is Ruggles Black. They have a great Keto friendly menu and their Keto lemon cheesecake is better than any other cheesecake out there. If I need something on the go, I think the best burgers are served at Beck’s Prime. They also have an amazing salad selection. I usually get cobb with rib-eye steak, if you ever go there, I definitely recommend trying it out.
We have a house in Galveston, so pretty much every weekend we spend our time there. Walking in downtown Galveston, going to festivals, Art Walk, Dickens on the Strand, or just hanging out on the beach are all my favorite things to do. I enjoy theater and my husband and I are annual ticket holders to the Alley Theater.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this article to my patients. Without them my degree, board certification, my whole life’s work would be meaningless. I think of them as my extended family. We even feel the same emotions during consultation, making a plan, or seeing the results for the first time: excitement, anxiousness, and anticipation.
