Meet Oneisha Thompson | Henna Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Oneisha Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Oneisha, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
I feel that the most important lesson that I have learned as a business owner is to be consistent. It is so easy to want to give up when you feel rejected or do not feel the support of the people that you thought would be there, but it is in that hurt and rejection that you must find your strength. Often, people love to applaud success but find it hard or are simply incapable of being supportive during failure, which is when support is needed the most. In business and in life, refusing to give up and maintaining a level of consistency, especially when people do not know your full story, deserves applause all in its own, even if you are the only one clapping.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my business a year ago and the progress that I have made as a business owner and as a person has been monumental. I feel that by starting a business, that has allowed me to mature and grow in ways that I would have never thought possible. Tirelessly, I have been growing my business while attending graduate school full-time, but all my work has finally paid off as I now have a masters in psychology with a concentration in child and adolescent development. Growing my business has not been easy but I would not trade my experiences for the world. I know that my business is no where that I want it to be, but it is not where it used to be and it is only up from here.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For getting out into the city, one top place on the list would have to be the Galleria mall. Shopping is a must for anyone and the Galleria definitely has something for everyone. After we tire ourselves out from the mall, we are definitely going to be starving so we are going to grab something to eat at the Turkey Leg Hut. Not only our we getting full while sipping on some bomb drinks, we are enjoying a whole vibe. Depending on if we want to enjoy some nightlife, Flava Restaurant and Bar or Fusion 59 is the move as we can enjoy more drinks, snack on an entrée, and smoke hookah while vibing out. The I’ve tip addition at Fusion is a must. The next day, we definitely have to make our way to brunch so the Breakfast Klub or Snooze never misses. Between the drinks, food, and friendly atmosphere,it’s a guaranteed good time. For fun and drinks, we can hit the arcade at Cidercade to channel our inner kid. Of course, we will have to make our way to Vibes Tattoo Studio to get some bomb henna work by the one and only Henna Muva.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The driving force behind my success can be attributed to my heart, my best friend, and my sister that keep me focused and motivate me to always strive for greater.
