We had the good fortune of connecting with Pamela Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pamela, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
My life has literally changed an immense amount over the span of a couple of months. I went from working a 9-5 job 5 days a week to being signed to a major modeling agency and having the opportunity to travel all of the time. I get questions via social media every day from women and young girls that want to get into the modeling industry. The question I get approached with the most is ” How much weight do I need to lose?” Its a very negative question just due to the fact that the industry has changed so much in the past 30 years. The “Body Positive Movement’ has taken over worldwide, and what most people don’t realize is that there is no “norm” for the modeling industry. You don’t have to be stick skinny or a size 0 to be in the industry, simply because realistically the average woman is a size 12. I feel that more confident women would pursue modeling if they were aware of that.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
If you are familiar with my story, I started out as a ketogenic consultant and shifted to part time modeling. I got picked up by a major agency and I’ve been doing what I love full time for the past few months. How did I get to where I am today? Confidence and attitude. I will definitely say that having a positive attitude will get you so far in life. Ive noticed that some of the most successful people today have some of the most infectious positivity that I have ever seen- even on bad days. Setting an example of yourself to others is definitely a great way to build success within yourself and for your brand. Getting to where I am took a lot of hard work. It took more than a year to build up a proper portfolio, work with the right people and to get my foot into being published in magazines. Once I became published multiple times, I got the attention of the people at my current job, and it was all uphill from there.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend here to visit, I would definitely say that we would hit up Old Town Spring. I love the aesthetic of a small, non populated area of town ( ever since covid) where you can have an intimate experience at shops and small bars. I also would go to one of my favorite spots, Brasil and have a cup of their Lavender Honey Latte and Jalapeño Turkey Burger. During this time of life, I try to stay away from the hustle and bustle of where “everybody” frequents just because at the end of the day it get played out after a while. I’m all for discovering places that people don’t usually like to frequent. Some of the most fun times I have had during COVID is having a drink and doing a “Teach Me How to Cocktail” Course with Eric Boyd. Its a small, intimate gathering where you have fun and learn how to make delicious drinks. Its so cool because he comes to you! You don’t even need to leave the house to enjoy yourself! I definitely recommend everyone book with him. Follow him on Facebook at The Boyd’s Bar!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shoutout goes out to my loving boyfriend Eric. He is my rock and biggest fan! As an entrepreneur and model himself, he understands what it takes to get to where you want and make a name for yourself. He definitely has supported me through the rough times and the good times as well in my career.
