We had the good fortune of connecting with Phillip Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Phillip, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
The best thing my wife and I have instilled in my son is to follow his dreams and goals instead of running from risk. He is so excited about learning and asking questions. It is my job to help him think through challenges. We stay the course and refuse to take short cuts because it builds character.

Everyone has the ability to do greater things. It takes a plan, preparation, practice, patience and performing under pressure. Those same attributes are critical to life. I teach my son through pancakes and brisket. It’s incredible to see how many life lessons you can pack into cooking. Reading, math, science and life skills make a great recipe for success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Phil’s Table is a catering company located in Cypress, Tx. We specialize in full-service and self serve buffets. We also offer meal kits through our curbside pop-up events. As a brand, we are about the priceless feeling of sharing a meal with one another.

The heart and soul of our company is the bond between my 8 year old son, LIl Phil, and I. We share videos and photos of our cooks. We have been featured on The Kelly Clarkson show, Khou, and other local media.

I started Phil’s table after closing my restaurant due to the pandemic. Customers came to try my food and fell in love with my son’s charisma and professionalism. He may be eight but he definitely takes pride in serving others well. My son and I started cooking when he was 4 or 5. It began with just snapping beans and cutting veggie scraps to teaching him how to make killer ribs and chicken.

Love God… Love Others… Share Great Food…

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many awesome spots here! This is where I would take a friend if they had 7 days here. Breakfast @Mex Taco House – Potato and chorizo tacos with fresh tortillas is a great way to say welcome. After breakfast it’s time to check out Zube park for a nice walk and potential workout. Lunch is a good time to catch up so we would head to plum coffee for a panini and cake pop push ups. There is nothing better than cake between friends. Except maybe ribs. Dinner would be at my house so they could get the chance to rest.
The next day we would stop by Franks grill for fried steak w. Eggs before checking out The Chefs Bag for some cool artisan treats. It’s a great place to see multiple one of a kind products in one place. I would finish the night with Joker pizza from Jackpot Pizza in Spring, Tx. Meat, BBQ sauce, honey sriracha and cheese. It’s my ace in the pocket.
One day it would be cool to do some shopping in the fairfield area, then lunch at nyam nyam cafe. I would recommend the lamb crepe. You won’t be disappointed. If your in the mood for crepes don’t just try one. Slide down the street to sleek and get a dessert crepe and sparkling water. The place is a treat for the eyes and your tastebuds.
Perrys on a Friday is a must. The restaurant delivers a stellar porkchop with smoked apple sauce and only for around $16 bucks. Be sure to pack your appetite. After lunch it’s time to walk off some of that food so I would go to Memorial city mall. It’s a beautiful shopping center with plenty of space to shop, grab a movie or just sit by the fireplace.
Saturday would be another busy day. I recommend stopping at the Houston Zoo. Its a great spot for kids and adults. You have to grab lunch at Dak & Bop. The korean fried chicken is phenomenal. Yes, it’s the KFC you wished for. Finish off the day with retro games at cidercade. If you drink, try their hard cider.

My Son would not let friends leave without trying Urban Air. It’s a trampoline park in Cypress. You can find some dang good catfish five minutes away at The station seafood company. Be sure to get the spicy tartar sauce. Finish the day by grabbing ice cream sandwiches from Gooeys. Strawberry chocolate chip cookies with blue monster ice cream it’s no regrets.

I thank God for everything that I have. I believe prayer is the work. then we plan and act. I also need to give a huge shoutout to my wife, Andrianna. She is my best friend and consult. Phil’s table would not exist without her . She is the founding fan of the “Phil show”.
