We had the good fortune of connecting with Portia Milan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Portia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It was pretty simple….. I consider myself to be ” over the top mom” I don’t like plain and simple when it comes to pretty much anything , especially a party. I used to spend so much money ordering different little items for my daughters party and when I receive the item. I would want to return it lol, in my mind I would be like ” I could have done this for what they charge”. So from that point on, I stepped out on faith and starting making ” theme chip bags” I posted it for feedback, and lets just say it took off from there.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Queen of Treats by Portia Milan : I customize party item snacks( chip bags, juices, candy, etc.) You tell me the theme of the party and the snacks, and I handle the rest. What set’s me apart from others is that I have a quick turn around time, every order is custom ( I never use the same design twice unless requested) and I am most affordable than others. I try to make each design as if I would use it for my own daughters party. Getting started was pretty easy once I made up my mind to just to put myself out there for business. I learned that you cant please everyone, but I am blessed to say I have not had one complaint , I truly go above and beyond for my clients. The late nights, early mornings, last minute appointments are all worthy !!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am pretty plain Jane and simple, I am not a clubber lol so I would take my best friend shopping of course 🙂 , maybe catch the Astro’s game. We would do go kart racing and arcading. It’s a must that we would hit up the casino and the bingo hall . I couldn’t let the trip end without seafood and chilis, and just chill out at home and watch movies. I think the most fun, interesting, exciting people in life are the ones that’s can just have a good time and laugh. You have to be able to relax and let your hair down around me…….

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give credit to my Facebook friends / family. I am small business owner , and most of my clients are from there. My daughters are my biggest supports as well, they also trying to slide in a order for free just because I am their mom lol. I would also like to shoutout to everyone that has ordered from me, shared my post, recommend me by word of mouth. I truly appreciate each and everyone of you !!!!
