We had the good fortune of connecting with Quiana Bridgett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quiana, what role has risk played in your life or career?

I think risk taking is necessary in order to fully experience life. I feel that you’re born to either be a risk taker or a play It safe type person. To be honest, I believe my love for taking risk is due to me genuinely wanting to know and experience life on my own terms.

I have always been a risk taker, and I believe with each and every risk that I have taken, It has gotten me to experience alot of downs and just as many ups. I wouldn’t have started my business, and been successful in It if It were not for me taking a risk, and jumping off the porch into the fire. I’ve learned so much, I’ve grown so much that I feel real It was all necessary for me to continue to grow in life. I’ve started 2 successful businesses with many more ventures to go, and all because I wasn’t afraid to take a risk.

I know people will ask what does taking a risk mean? To answer that question, I would say, think of something you want to accomplish that would scare you beyond measure because you have not a clue how you will piece It together, or how you will finance It, and you decide to create a plan to see that goal completed.

You wake up everyday and give It all you got, and no matter how many obstacles come your way, you continue to press forward until you see It through. The reward for that if done correctly will be very rewarding. If you don’t believe me go and try It, and let me know how It goes.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe that I was put here to serve and change the lives of people. Being able to assist people with one of the most important things that can ultimately shape and impact their lives truly brings me job. I am a Tax Credit Certified Senior Community Manager with expertise in LIHTC Properties and Development. I have been in this industry for well over 13 years and I think my God given talent is my ability to connect and be a resource for people. I pride myself on the ability to have successfully assisted hundreds of families with high quality affordable housing in the DMV area. I believe what sets me apart is that I don’t look at the people that I help as just people, to me they are my family and for family I go the distance to ensure that their housing experience is one that truly feel like they are safe at home.

I got started in the Property Management field as a File Clerk, then was promoted to Assistant Property Manager within 6 months. I have worked on several types of Affordable and Conventional Properties, however LIHTC Properties just do It for me. Everyday I get to wake up and do what I love to do and meet some really amazing people along the way. One thing that I’ve done throughout my career which I feel helped to get me to where I am was to learn as much as I could about my current job and the job I wanted next. I don’t just see what I do as just a job, to me I am helping to make peoples lives a little easier.

If I could share anything about where I’m headed in the future, I’d say that whatever I do creating Affordable Housing and ensuring they are Managed properly is definitely on the list.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take her to a baseball game followed by dinner down by Navy Yard, We would do a Spa Day with manis and pedis then followed by dinner and drinks downtown. I would plan for us to take a trip to a NYC and spend the day there we would shop, have a NYC slice of pizza, visit the Museum of Ice Cream, followed by dinner before heading back. I would make arrangements for us to do a speak easy followed by a lounge at the MGM. I would take her to several brunch spots here in the area as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Whew! this is a tough question to answer there has been a little village of people who deserve a shout out for being a help and resource for me along my journey but I’ll keep It brief by saying I’d like to shout out my parents for always pushing me and supporting me through every step of my journey. There really is no book on parenting but I am forever grateful that God chose them to raise me.
