We had the good fortune of connecting with Quitra & Jocelyn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Quitra & Jocelyn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When Black Box Soulfood Stop was just an idea, we wanted to allow consumers to enjoy the taste of great food for the soul out of a box.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We would experience different foods in different places and areas of town and didn’t have too many great experiences. Then we decided We can bring Our delicious dishes to the world but something different everyday. So We came up with Themed daily menus to give Our consumers different taste bud selection. Working on a food trailer has had its challenges but once We got a system in place to relive the stress that it can have on you, We were able to serve Our different communities well.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well to start, We would definitely indulge in a at home brunch so that they could experience what we have to offer. Next, Live music is Our jam and live music with great food and drinks is a huge plus, so heading over to Emancipation Foodtruck Park would be a perfect evening. Now if We were really showing out, we would book Our Favorite saxophonist and singer to come do a set at Our home as well as Our private chef Lotos that’s a dear friend of Ours to cook up some delicious eats and treats
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
