Meet Qwest Courtney

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Qwest Courtney again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.
Qwest, always such a pleasure connecting with you and thank you for sharing your stories, insights and inspiring messages with our community. We’re looking forward to getting the download and what you have been up to since our last interview, but first can you briefly introduce yourself to folks who might have missed the prior conversation.
My name is Qwest but I go by Q of Q Shot It. I categorize myself as a freelance multimedia producer. In addition, I work as a Custom Content Contributor for Getty Images. In that position, I take on briefs from companies like AT&T, 3M, Orgain, Oncor and more to produce branding assets for their marketing campaigns. If I had a niche, I’d say I specialize in branding/marketing content but I shoot almost anything. From real estate, sports coverage, weddings, senior photos, family portraits and more. I consider myself to be equally yoked in both the photography and videography realms so that allows me to provide a wide variety of services to whom ever is in need.
What sets me apart from the competition is my background and experience in marketing. My time as a multimedia producer at my alum, Prairie View A&M University, allowed to me to develop my eye for marketable shots and compositions. Which lead me to my relationship with Getty Images; where attention to detail and ability to adapt to different brand’s vision is vital to your success. The communication barrier between client and producer is almost non-existent when a producer knows exactly what’s needed to drive traffic and increase sales within their business. Along with my experience, people tend to gravitate toward my organic/natural style of editing. Picture perfect photos with unnatural skin textures is the new trend so my photography gives people a break from what’s popular.

Alright, so our main goal today is to give our audience an update on what you have been up to since our last conversation. We’d love to hear how things are going and what you are most looking forward to or excited about these days.
Since our last conversation, I endured a life changing car accident that rewired how I looked at life and my time here on Earth. With God’s grace, I was able to make a full recovery and finish my college education. In my senior year, I flourished and became so hungry with life; you could see the difference in my work. I began my relationship Getty Images which lead to me shooting the NCAA March Madness, Cactus Jack HBCU Classic and 2023 All-star Weekend in Seattle, WA. Aside from my work for Getty, I began to take my freelance work up a notch. I started shooting for Jack Daniels, the Houston Rodeo, Koya Steakhouse, the Sunrise House and more. On another note, I’ve always considered myself a natural light photographer but I recently invested into a strobe a few months ago to prove to myself I could do both and learn something new being that I’ve been shooting natural for years. Although this has become my means of living, photography and videography are still my passion and will I’ll forever be a student to the game.

What would the perfect day look like for you? Please give us as many details as possible.
In my opinion, the perfect day for me starts out early around 9am. I’ll shower to start the day and follow-up with a hearty breakfast. I’ll reply to any emails and follow-up with clients while I listen to a sermon from Pastor Matthew Davis. I’ll play around with my fur baby, Leilani, before I head out for the day (I feel lazy being at home unless I’m asleep). I’ll knockout whatever shoots I have that day, go to Chili’s (my office away from home) and edit at the bar for a few hours before I head home. To close the day, I’ll more than likely cook, listen to new music, make revisions to my website, draft any social media posts for the following day and be in bed by 1am.
