We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Lohman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, what do you attribute your success to?
It may take awhile to identify, but once you find the heartbeat of your own story, that can fuel your mission in ways that nothing else can. After my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage, I began to feel more and more drawn to helping other women who experienced miscarriage in their road to healing that ensued. My heart beats to help women find hope again, and because that is the primary foundation of my business, it breeds an authenticity that is natural and unforced. I think that when you lead from an authentic place-particularly out of a place of pain or hardship in your own story – it invites others into a space where they feel permission to be honest about the hurts, healing, and hope of their own story, too.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am first and foremost a storyteller with a passion for writing and communicating hope. I spent years looking for real hope in my own story and met Jesus along the way. My background is in television and broadcast journalism, and after spending a few years working in television, I felt compelled to start telling stories beyond mere entertainment – but the story that had potential for hurting people to encounter real life change. After getting my masters in theology and ministry, I’ve worked for some phenomenal ministry organizations and churches, and in 2020 launched my own business: Hope Again Collective. I craft handmade earrings that tell the stories of women who’ve experienced infant loss. Each pair in my shop is named after a loss mom and shares her story, while giving her a physical piece to wear to remember the life of her baby and her bravery in sharing her story – and that is really what makes my earrings unique. They are conduits of hope in a sense. Every pair I sell provides practical resources to a mom faced with medical, funeral, or grief-related expenses stemming from infant loss. It hasn’t been easy being a mother to toddlers and solo entrepreneur, but this is easily the most rewarding work I’ve ever done.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The community that has been built around Hope Again Collective is largely due to the bravery of thousands of fellow loss moms who have survived miscarriage and stillbirth experiences and felt compelled to tell their stories. Because these women are courageously sharing their stories – some for the very first time – the silent shame around infant loss is starting to lift, and loss moms are finding connection with other moms that validates the pain of their experience in real and life-changing ways. To every woman who has shared her story or supported another loss mom in her journey – thank you for helping women find hope again and our watching world reshape its misconstrued beliefs around infant loss.
