We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Tate-study and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I hope that I have taught them to dream big and reach for the stars . To choose a path that they will grow and excel in. They might have to get a bit uncomfortable to learn and figure out their purpose in life but they only have one so do what is going to make them happy !
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a international makeup artist for 30yrs, I started right out of highschool and was on a mission to find the top salon in Houston to work at. I did just that I worked at the prestigious Urban Retreat for 20yrs which opened up a world of opportunities. During that time I learned so many different things from customer service to managing employees, taking inventory, learning new skill sets , stepping outside the box. It taught me so much and prepared me for the day when I ventured out to open my own business Fabulous Faces by Rachel which has now been opened almost 10yrs I work solo and by appt only offering services from simple brow waxing to permanent makeup, makeup lessons , special occasion makeup etc
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well first stop would be my family business which is Humble family skate center in Humble Tx. We built but in 1977 and I am also the GM for the past 11yrs. Who doesn’t love skating ? Houston has so many amazing places we would definitely go to the zoo , the Galleria is also a must. The museums would also have to be another stop! Different places to eat would have to be Goode company for BBQ, The velvet Taco, pappadeaux !! Then trip down to Galveston , pleasure pier !
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother , Gloria Tate she has been my rock and has taught me that being independent business woman take a lot of hard work and dedication but so worth it!
