Meet Raegan Clapsaddle | Boudoir, Family, and Senior Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raegan Clapsaddle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raegan, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I love photography for many reasons, but one of my favorites is how it can help people by impacting their confidence and changing how they see themselves. This happens most often in my boudoir photography. Boudoir can be a very vulnerable experience for many women. Sometimes they come in extremely nervous and their self confidence can get a little shaken by the intrusive thoughts we often put in our heads. It’s my job to help them through this stage in the photoshoot and be their support system and hype girl. By the middle to the end of the session, they always loosen up in front of the camera and start having fun. The best part for me is after the shoot is over, when they see their final pictures. Some get emotional, some feel beautiful and sexy, and some feel empowered. Helping my clients see themselves in a positive way is a huge part of why I love photography.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Everyone has their own strengths in business and I think one strength I have that sets me apart from others is that I am a great listener. This helps me a lot when it comes to the clients goal for the session. I am able to get to know them, understand what they are looking for, and craft their vision, which in return leads to happier clients! Photography was something I wanted to do all throughout my life, but it was never the right time. Once I finally decided to make the jump, I have never regretted it and have honestly enjoyed the whole journey getting here. I have big goals, and a vision to where I want my business to be. It feels like I have a long way to get there, but right now, what is most important in my life is being a mama at home with my baby. Starting a business and having a newborn at the same time was the biggest challenge so far. Finding the time to work and be present with my daughter has been a learning curve, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I feel very lucky to be at home with her, even if that means the goals in my business will take a little longer to achieve.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start our mornings off going to different coffee shops, like Golden Hour, Blue Door, and of course Starbucks. I’d take them to some of my favorite restaurants, like Lupe Tortilla, Magnolia Eats and Treats, and Snooze. We would definitely head down to the Waterway and make the most of the many things to do down there like go for walks along the water, kayaking, go to the movies, eat at different restaurants like Grimaldis and Cyclone Anaya’s, and go shopping! We would do other things during her stay like go to local Farmers markets and garage sales too. Lastly, we would go on a couple walks at some of our favorite parks: Burroughs Park and Northshore Park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My photography business wouldn’t be what it is without the love and support of my family! First, I am forever blessed by my husband. He is selfless and makes sacrifices for our family daily and I am lucky to be supported, loved, and pushed by him. Secondly, my parents, sisters, and in-laws. Thank you for the lifetime of encouragement to start a photography business and recommending me to everyone that you encounter. You all make life so much better!
