Meet Rana Hodges | Influencer – Brow Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rana Hodges and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rana, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks is never about being reckless- it’s about choosing courage over comfort. That one “RISK” could be the one move that changes the course for your entire life or career. I believe doing risky things if there is intention and not just recklessness behind it that it can be a beautiful thing. The risks I took from moving from security of being Military, being a mom of 2 and up and moving to a new city and starting from scratch. It took a lot of praying and faith that I am so thankful in my risk-taking that I have grown mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Risk has given me the life I prayed for and keeping God at the forefront of what he gives you free will to decide has transformed multiple platforms for me and put me next to people I wouldn’t have ever thought I could be in or at.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Personally, as a creative or influencer what sets me apart is my character and support I pour into everyone around me. Not everyone really will sometimes they may get carried away in “platforms” or “aesthetics”, I have a diverse background from being a Veteran, mom, beauty expert. Entrepreneur and content creator. I have more relatable lifestyle content I share. As where Professionally, my brow services I provide are Luxury tailored and provide expertise education in brow care for all genders. ages and ethnicities here in Houston. It’s hard to explain but once you experience a service there is 10/10 no going back to what you used to do. I got to where I am today but that word “Risk-taking” putting down my guard of shyness and reservedness to put myself and what I do out there. My personality once I do open up and the light I carry has gotten me to where I am. It hasn’t always been easy as going to events or networking shops can take a drain on my social battery but we show up and connect and support others. I overcome the challenge of maybe not wanting to go to a networking hour or event by just the part of getting ready and what to wear can be stressful for me. I just think about the possibilities that could be waiting or the people waiting to find me that needed someone in the professional scene like me. I have learned that the worse thing that could happen is being rejected or hearing “No” but atleast you did it and can learn from those experiences. I want everyone to know that I am so full of love and I wouldn’t be where I am today without me starting my walk or trying to get right with Christ. This is a girl coming from who once had an Atheist beliefs from childhood but his love surpasses our own knowing. Choose God in everything you do!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Omg! I am still learning all the hotspot areas or hidden gems myself. There is so much we could do, It’s Houston. We are both foodies so the food could range from how we feel that day so that’s hard to say. We would probably go to places I haven’t been just yet “Trill Burgers” or a brunch date at “Hash kitchen”. So many good options and as far as fun or hanging out definitely do rooftop movie date, bike ride around downtown or a boat date on the water while we catch up or just continue our bestie conversations. The most fun, interesting or exciting places are usually the hidden gems but what makes it all worth or enhances the experience is the people you have with you. I would definitely take recommendations on places, or things to go and do as I am still learning the city of Houston.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, my support system and my Mom should already know my admiration and respect for support and love they pour into me and what I do. I wanna thank a person I have grown so much towards, his love and grace for me and my family has been impeccable, he is God. I don’t wanna sound like a cliche person but becoming an Entrepreneur and stepping into being a creative this year I have seen him work and move mountains with the rooms and people he has put in my path. It isn’t just “luck” or “coincidences” when they happened frequently as they did for me. Last but not least, my brothers and sisters in Christ – my “Rocky road” community that have held me accountable physically, mentally and spiritually or supporting me as well. From working out and moving my body, speaking life into me, checking on me if I’m not at bible study or coming to support me. They were my first friend group I was so blessed to have crossed paths with in a crazy way but God and his timing and him knowing who you need when you are leveling up was meticulously done by him. There are so many different friends or people I could’ve ran into or confided in but these are a safe space of mine that need great recognition from me in my story.
