We had the good fortune of connecting with Rashan Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rashan, what are you inspired by?
As I think about this question, I smile because I have so much that truly inspires me. My life experiences inspired me to pursue this career, in being the listening ear and a voice for those who feel voiceless. I am inspired by music all the time, I feel it gives a release to our emotions and can also allow us to express them. I am inspired by my family, we stand together and understand that we are all we have and all we need.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Passion & Purpose Fulfilled is a mental health and/or substance use disorder therapy practice. What I believe sets me apart is my approach and connectivity with my clients, we make therapy fun through all the heavy stuff. I hold myself and my business to a standard of inspiration, influence, innovation, insight, and involvement. I have been called “the passionate friend therapist”, as my clients would say I am authentic which leads them to be themselves without editing that only their friends could get them to do. However, in a therapeutic way. Where I am in my business today was not easy but God and Purpose driven. I overcome my challenges by granting myself grace and remembering with every journey there is an earning. I have learned to be okay with saying I don’t know it all but I am open to learning it all. As a therapist, I just want to listen and assist people in healing and that is what I know. As a business owner, I am learning the many facets of what business is and how to grow it so that the math (that’s where I struggle the most) is mathing. LOL. I want the world to know that mental health isn’t popular but it is purposeful; that there should not be a stigma to it; that mental health is a part of self-care; that self-care isn’t selfish; and if it doesn’t serve your mental health then it doesn’t deserve your energy. That is my brand and my story!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being from New Orleans, I am a true foodie, I love all the great eateries and I am always looking for new ones. So a week-long trip would consist of eating at a few of the hotspots around the area. Places to check out for me are the live music spots.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A huge shoutout goes to my family…they are the real MVPs. My son is my rock, he pushes me to continue to follow my passion as I encourage him to do the same; my spouse is so encouraging and always motivating me to accomplish all my goals; my mom, told me when I was a little girl that getting my education was something no one could ever take from me and she steps up in every occasion; my sister, she loves me through all my extras; and my nephews and niece, they keep me laughing and always has a way of cheering me on.
