We had the good fortune of connecting with Rasheedah L and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rasheedah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My inspiration behind starting Shea Cafe came from wanting three things; delicious smelling products made with simple ingredients & an emphasis on great customer service.

Many of the brands I was seeing contained many chemicals, were premade, or did not provide the customer service that I believe should be present.

After making my own personal moisturizers, I not only received many compliments on the quality of my skin & scent but requests for me to make personal orders. Eventually I started working on making a professional quality product that would deliver.

Shea Cafe’s products not only provide moisture but boosts confidence in knowing that you look, feel AND smell your best!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In short, what sets Shea Cafe apart is the personal dedication in keeping the products simple in it’s ingredients but professional in quality leaving unbelievable moisturizing effects & long lasting fragrance, it’s a perfect combination of simple yet effective!

As proud as I am of Shea Cafe, it hasn’t been easy; creating the brand, product formulas, marketing, order fulfillment & doing so consistently can be stressful & sometimes overwhelming. There are times I’ve thought about taking a break, but when I put that Shea Cafe body butter on, crack open a new sugar scrub or lather up with a shower gel…I get inspired knowing that these are products that I not only create but actually uplift my mood. That and my return customers give me so much inspiration to keep going.

Running a business is a lot like life, there will ALWAYS be pressure & unplanned circumstances; but it’s important to adjust, be kind to yourself and KEEP GOING.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As an outdoor girlie, I love our parks, museums & festivals that are available in Houston.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my friend Elaine Huff, owner of BeatrixBeauty. She’s not only a business owner heself but a huge support for Shea Cafe from day one.
