We had the good fortune of connecting with Ray-ven Perry Entrepeneur & Creator and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ray-ven Perry, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At the time of starting my business, it had been a year since I graduated college and I was working full time. I wanted something more than just going to work and going out during the week. My job at that time had hundreds of employees and many of their additional streams of income was from selling their goods and services to us/co-workers. I wanted the opportunity too! I knew I was capable of selling to people what they wanted.
I researched for some months and made my decision to start my business. I started my business by selling eyelashes only – no website, just in person sales. My sales went well which led to me expanding to the online store I have today.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Aside from operating and growing my businesses, I do work full time. I’m a case manager for a popular motor company. Additionally, I’m earning my master’s (I’ll be graduating this year!), so I’m constantly working on growing as a business professional.
Getting to where I’m today did come with challenges, but they have made me who I am today. I’ve had the opportunity to explore career types and decide on what I want to do long term. Being able to explore the work force has provided me skills to be a better businesswoman and entrepreneur and I’m thankful for the journey.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For a friend visiting, I would try to explore all of Houston with them. I like to explore new restaurants in Houston myself, so we’ll probably explore popular areas for food. I love going all through Westheimer, Uptown, mid-west, or Montrose area. The Post is popping right now, so probably would go there. Goal is to find the best happy hours – period! Take them to all the shopping places (City Centere, Rice Village, Galleria) maybe go to an outlet like Tanger. Possibilities are infinite!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would most definitely love to recognize and thank Candy Shaw of Wax Lash Beyond. She nominated and I would love to thank her for recognizing my vision of entrepreneurship. I love networking and helping other entrepreneurs too, so this was important to me. Let’s grow together!
Additionally, I would love to thank my family and friends who support my businesses every day. For those that have modeled for my online store, purchased, and network my business regularly, I thank you sooo much! They have helped me grow and I will make sure we make it to the top!
