We had the good fortune of connecting with Reggie Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Reggie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The original plan behind starting an entertainment company with my partner Dre was to give our peers the opportunity to have a social setting to network and still enjoy themselves while pushing their brands forward. Often times we see so many of our peers struggle to maintain their business because we don’t fully support them. Overtime I realized that beyond having consistent support, a lot of us lack the proper resources to financial literacy. This has been the major factor that has kept many of us from reaching our goals and dreams when in fact the information is out there we just have to seek it. This thought process is what has led me to begin giving the game of investing to as many people as possible that are willing to listen and take proper risk.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The beauty behind the madness for me has been my ability to adapt to every situation that has come my way. You see my businesses and brand cannot fit into one box that people may want to see me in. Simple because I am always further educating myself and seeking more knowledge and new opportunities. Getting to the point I am at today has not been easy, in fact there have been times where I’d just preferred to give up but my support system and ego wouldn’t allow me. I wake up everyday with the agenda on my mind to push the culture forward. Meaning in my entertainment business I am always wanting to curate even greater experiences for my clientele. Also in my investment coaching career I am always looking to learn how to connect the dots a lot easier for people as I want to make sure I can reach as many people who are ready and willing to take their lives to the next level!
There’s no better feeling than really taking care of your people. Showing them that it is a lot more to life than the usual things we all have fallen victim to. A greater life starts with one risk. Generational wealth starts with one risk taker!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow! That is a tough one. There are so many hidden gems in houston it’ll be hard to narrow them all down.
Let’s see. I’d say for sure during the week we are visiting Lost and Found as the food is always on point and the vibe is really chill there.
I’d also say that it is a no brainer to visit Thirteen as this may be my favorite restaurant in the city. And Roe is for sure the best hospitality general manager I have I met.
For my brunch vibes I’d have to go with Taste Bar + Kitchen as this is by far the best brunch consistently for quite some time now.
Let’s say at night time I am looking for some cool places to go to. Here is my list of events to check out weekly.
Thursday: Parma Restaurant & Lounge
Friday: Space Night Club
Saturday: Lumen Lounge
Sunday: Sekai Night & Day
These are the late night vibes I’d always connect with in houston.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my partner since 2012, Andre Carron, as we started DreKickback from the closest thing you’d see in real life to the movie “Project X”, to transforming the company into one of the most impactful networking events the city has seen to date.
I’d like to thank my partner since 2018, William Harwell, as he has pushed me to go after my dreams and helped motivate me when I lost my corporate job 4 years ago. I’ve sat back and learned a lot about the entertainment industry through his lens.
I’d like to thank my lady, Melissa Lee, for really just being there for me when I didn’t fully believe in my own vision all of the time. Just keeping me grounded through the joe and downs in this life as it’s never more important than real love and family.
I’d like to thank my guy Daymion Anderson for connecting me to individuals like Troy Mitchell and Branden Thompson. As between the three of these guys I have learned a lot about multiple streams of income and how I can give back to our people on a daily basis with this uncommon knowledge.
Lastly I’d like to thank my mother for helping me set up all of my businesses well in advance before I even became successful or truly had my own vision. I continue to lean on her for business advice and knowledge even til this day.
