We had the good fortune of connecting with Reign Boxley-Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Reign, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m a Texan through and through! I split my childhood between a town by the name of Hearne and Bryan/College Station. Most days were centered around church activities as my Dad was a preacher.

When we weren’t in church, our weekends were spent in the country with family. In addition, I spent a lot of time “exploring” the world through books and magazines and would get so lost in what I was reading that I often got in trouble for neglecting my chores or not hearing my Mom telling me to do something!

To this day, I keep my faith and my family top of mind in everything I do while making sure to consistently feed my desire to learn and explore new things.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have always had a love for home fragrances as far back as high school. For this reason, I toyed with the idea of making my own for years, but fear and life got in the way.

Clearly, God had the final say as I embarked on a lengthy career in corporate retail, holding positions in almost every skill needed to run a business. I’ve spent some time in Customer Service, Marketing, Buying, Project Management and the list goes on! With this knowledge and skill set, I realized that I could actually run a business, but wasn’t sure if I had what it takes to actually make a product that consumers would love. (Science was not my favorite subject in school)!

I started making candles in my kitchen and quickly realized that it’s not as simple as it looks. After a while, I decided to share my creations with others and got all the confirmation I needed. From there, Moodlight Candle Company LLC was born.

I have applied my corporate retail skills in every aspect of my business, which hasn’t been easy! It’s a different world when you’re also the manufacturer of the product!

Throughout this journey, I have learned to have patience and to relax as I’m a huge perfectionist.

My goal is to help others find their sense of calm and relaxation after a long day of LIFE as they light our candles to help them “Set the Mood”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Im such a homebody, but if I was in charge we’d have to hit up some of my favorite spots like 93’ til, Brennar’s on the Bayou, Vic & Anthony’s, Lucille’s, Quotes and Phil & Derek’s.

We’d go to AR Workshop Cypress, Museum of Illusions and SlooMoo for cool daytime activities.

I love Market Square Park for the murals!

Trill on Wheels is a must for an H-Town vibe and the Improv is always a great way to start the night.

The Spot, The Davenport and Five Central would be our go to for nightlife.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I could name many, but I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, who constantly motivates and inspires me to keep calm, follow my dreams and to never give up.
