We had the good fortune of connecting with Rey Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Believing in your self on at least trying. Cause it may don’t work but you will never know if you don’t try.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being independent and doing whatever I want to show musically and artistically is my biggest motivation. As a human we’re always changing and felling different and I want to be able to express that with my music without the etiquette of following only one pattern, one day we feel like a rap and the other we may feel like a punk, every day is as different as every person.
Nothing it’s easy, nothing that last at least, being patient and consistent is the key, it’s also the only way I know.
I want my story to be an inspiration for people to live the most pleasant live possible and love their self to be them enough that they have the courage of making things happen. “Se suficientemente tu” is what I always say.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would go eat at The Gypsy Poet for sure one of the Wednesday and have the best music night in town, have a beer on Buffalo Brewery to enjoy downtown view and China town to have some Asian food witch is amazing.
Jumping out of a plane is always a good plan for me lol, I’m a skydiver so Spaceland Skydive is a regular spot on my list.
And a great coffee in Agora at the westheimer always leads to a great conversation, those are my type of plans.
Gumbo Jam on sundays for sure, great vibe and great music. And a Friday of AxelRad.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In my close circle I’m very inspired by the people around me at The Gypsy Poet for making such an idea a real thing and pushing me by the example of working professionally and focus on making something work the right way with daily and consistent work.
On the outside I’ve been inspired by the Atlanta raper Russ who’s independent career had showed me a pattern to follow with his music, book and work ethic witch teaches that everything is in your head and is worthy to keep trying while you enjoy and grow on the process.
