We had the good fortune of connecting with Rich Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rich, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
The moment I decided that I wouldn’t wait for opportunities. I started producing my own shows, which gave me leverage to get booked by other comics
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In order to do standup, I walked away from a career in recruiting where making six figures was easy. I sold.my house, moved in with my parents, and all along the way my friends told me that I should ‘t turn my back on recruiting. But what they didn’t realize is that making people laugh is the single most important thing I treasure. Since embracing my passion, I’ve gotten a couple TV appearances, done comedy in 35 states, and I’m about to shoot my second special
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
MONDAY- Open Mic at. Rudyard’s/Comedy at Axelrad TUESDAY-Comedy at the Secret Group
WEDNESDAY-Open Mic at Darwin’s
THURS-Pure Comedy at Avant Garden
FRIDAY-Best of at The Secret Group
SATURDAY-Karaoke at Christian’s Tailgate
For food I would take them to Top Sushi, The Breakfast Club, The Turkeyleg Hut, Jadari’s Caribbean Restaurant, Mai’s Vietnamese,Goode Company Seafood, BB’s
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Family-They are the inspiration for alot of my comedy
