We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rob, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
I have an affirmation that I try and say everyday which is: “I’m enough!” That small affirmation is a reminder to myself that no matter what life throws my way I am capable of handling it. I have dealt with extreme insecurities over my lifetime, but that small affirmation reminds me to look deeper than my insecurities and soar to greatness.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My style of painting is very emotionally driven. I tend to look inward for inspiration and usually it comes out in my paintings. I have mental illness, and have had it since childhood. Art has always been my defense against the symptoms my illness tends to manifest, and I believe it shows in my work. I always say each of my pieces has a story to tell and I hope through my art that story resonates with others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend came to visit I would definitely take them to the strand. In Galveston, the strand is a hot spot for art galleries, shopping, local restaurants, music, and other tourist attractions.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to my husband. He has been instrumental in my artistic ventures, and I know without his support I would not be where I am today.
