We had the good fortune of connecting with Rochell Flood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rochell, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was simple! I love fashion, I love to shop, I love to travel and inspire others! At a young age, I realized that I loved fashion and magazines became my “Fashion University” so to speak. I would spend hours looking at the models in the magazines and dreaming of being on the cover or in one of the spreads. After graduating college, I moved to LA to work as a Stylist Assistant for Ahneva Ahneva in her designer showroom and later at CODE a men’s fashion magazine. I also pursued my true dream of being a model. Having a not so perfect, but perfect smile caused me to be super self-conscious and I later lost sight of becoming a model. With Wear She Got It, I get to be my own model and showcase my love of fashion on my own terms. I also get to share my travels and inspire others to try new things and to go to new places. Travel is like a breath of fresh air. It gives you new perspective and encourages creativity! Not to mention the exposure to new cultures, sights, sounds and food that traveling affords. Long story short, Instagram has been an amazing tool for me to share my passion for fashion, travel and let others know that they can do whatever they want to do in life, don’t let anything stop you, just go for it! I want to inspire women to go after what they want in life despite their flaws or whatever limitations society has put on them.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally? What sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others is my unique style of dressing, my smile and the fact that I don’t wear make-up (besides an eyebrow pencil, gloss, and occasional mascara…which has to be vegan and all natural. I am mostly in dresses or skirts, which is rare among women these days. I love to style skirts and dresses because I want other women to know that they can feel/be confident and feminine at the same time. I’m always so excited about a good flowing maxi dress! I feel my most confident self in them. The way they flow and the way they make you sashay! I live for it. I’ve gotten so many complements while wearing a flowing maxi skirt or dress. Even on Miami beach I have been complemented when everyone else is wearing next to nothing!  I lived in a community where the women only wore dresses and skirts and not a stitch of make-up for many years. We also made all of our clothes, so my style of dressing is definitely influenced by that time of my life. I’m so uncomfortable in pants! I do have them, but I rarely wear them. As I am growing my platform on Instagram, I am looking to inspire others to embrace their differences. I’m really proud of myself for putting myself out there and just going for it.  My goal is to get brand partnerships and expand my reach. I think my new motto will be “Perfectly Imperfect,” because on IG there is a lot of competition and pressure to be perfect or take the perfect photo. I grew up being bullied and made fun of throughout my teenage years for my gap. I have learned that I am not beautiful like others, I am beautiful like me! End of story. At 47, I finally feel comfortable posting photos of myself and sharing myself with the world. I am so inspired to see brands like Target and Zara showcasing women with a gap toothed smile like mine! And models without makeup!! I want to inspire other women like me to embrace themselves, flaws and all and know that they are beautiful in spite of their perfect imperfections.  We are all ‘Limited Editions’ and we should treat ourselves as such. There is an IG influencer that I follow that has a similar smile as mine and she said she is not going through any amount of pain to change her appearance to please others. I felt that!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Funny thing is I have a really good friend of mine coming to visit in December, so this is a chance for me to get ready for when the comes! Saturday would definetly be spa day at Trellis Day Spa at the Houstonian Hotel. We would spend the day being pamperd, lounging by the new soaking pools, eating fruit and drinking spa water!

Sunday We would head to Mo Better Brews for Brunch and then to the Graffiti walls near downtown for some great instagram shots.

Monday We would spend the day visiting model homes in Balmoral cause we both love looking at beautiful homes and getting decorating ideas. Afterwards, we would head over to City Center for some outdoor shopping and lunch at Bella Green

Tuesday would be a trip to the Water Wall for photos and then shopping at the Galleria and then dinner at Suger’s Cajun Resturant with live music

Wednesday We would check out the food trucks downtown and walk around Discovery Green enjoying the sights and sounds.

Thursday we would catch a show and head to Eddie V’s for dinner

Friday would be relaxing before her flight home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom! As a little girl, I remember sitting up all night waiting for her to sew a costume for me. She is the classiest, most fashionable and talented person I know.
