We had the good fortune of connecting with Ron Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ron, what principle do you value most?
I would say the value that matters most to me and the way I approach the products I make and the way I treat my customers is integrity. I strive to operate with the highest degree of integrity from product development, marketing and social media content to customer relationships. I believe in honesty through transparency and if I feel like my products aren’t right for someone, I fully disclose that to them. I firmly believe that gaining a sale is never worth losing a customer or being perceived in a negative light.
What should our readers know about your business?
Los Muertos Beard Co. was an idea that I came up with in September 2020 as I started my own beard growing journey. As I entered the world of beard care, I found the products that I was using were dull and uninspiring. They didn’t tell a story. There was no fun artwork or sense to what I was buying. My idea was to develop high quality, hand crafted beard care products that tell a story. Each of our scents are thematic to the artwork and overall feeling you will get when using them. For example, our scent El Paletero is translated to The Ice Cream Man in English. It is an orange and vanilla scented beard oil that smells like the Dreamsicle you used to get off the ice cream truck as a kid. El Barista is our coffee scented beard oil that is reminiscent of a freshly brewed coffee from your favorite coffee shop. The product concept is what I am most excited about for Los Muertos Beard Co and I strive to come up with great, unique scents that has a thematic feel to it. The artwork on the bottle invokes a sense of what the experience will be like.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I usually set up at local farmer’s markets in the North Houston area. There are so many great spots with amazing vendors and the best food trucks you will ever get to try! Breweries are another go to in my book. Excalibur Brewing in Old Town Spring is such a fantastic spot with some of the best handcrafted brews in Texas.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have always admired people who had that “hustle” and were constantly moving. I think the person who brings that out in me is my best friend, Roy Chapa. Roy is a lifelong friend of mine and aims higher than anyone I have ever known. His band, Calle Swing is one of the premier street salsa bands in Houston and their success is a direct reflection of his hardwork. Roy is my co-host on our Bearded Bastards podcast where we talk all things beards, Los Muertos Beard Co and anything else that is on our minds. Roy’s tenacity and drive is unmatched in my circle of influence and I am grateful for his input and ideas for Los Muertos Beard Co.
