We had the good fortune of connecting with Room 237 and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Room 237, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
We met at work back in 2009 and quickly became friends. We have similar tastes in movies, music, etc. For years now we’ve both really loved podcasts and wanted to see if we could develop something fun. We decided to go with rating and reviewing horror movies because it’s one of our favorite movie genres and we thought it would be fun. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. We aren’t trying to be Roger Ebert, but we do love to drink wine and provide hilarious commentary on your favorite horror movies!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We think what sets us apart from other podcasts is our chemistry. We’ve been friends forever and can literally finish each other’s sentences so naturally our back and forth banter comes easily. The biggest lesson we’ve learned is to not try to reinvent the wheel. Megan is the storyteller and Kimberly provides a lot of funny commentary and it works. We want everyone who listens to just have fun with us…whether you’ve seen the movie that week or not, just hop on and take the ride with us. We want it to feel like talking with friends.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If it’s their first time in Houston then we’d take them to Galveston to see the seawall, the strand, and Moody Gardens. To NASA. To Miller Outdoor Theater or Cynthia Woods to see a show or performance. To the Museum of Natural Science or the Fine Arts Museum. To see a Texans, Astros, or Rockets game. Of course you’d have to have some amazing Tex Mex while you’re here. After all that if they still have energy, we’d take them for some drinks and dancing in Montrose. There’s so much to see and do in Houston!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We just want to thank our families, friends, co-workers, etc who’ve supported us from day one and have offered advise and encouragement.
