We had the good fortune of connecting with Rovion Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rovion, how does your business help the community?
Kinetic Vibez blends hip-hop culture and mindfulness to promote mental wellness, self-expression, and creativity, driving impactful change in both local communities and globally. Its innovative programs serve youth and adults through music production, art, movement, yoga, and storytelling, offering tools for emotional and mental growth.

A key aspect of Kinetic Vibez’s success is its partnerships with major organizations like Microsoft and Ableton. Through these collaborations, Kinetic Vibez has expanded into digital spaces, offering scalable and accessible learning tools. Participants gain hands-on experience with industry-standard music production software, opening doors to creative careers in music and technology.

As a hip-hop cultural ambassador of the USA, Rovion Reed has presented at international conferences, sharing Kinetic Vibez’s approach to mental health through the arts. These global presentations inspire educators, artists, and leaders to adopt similar initiatives, showcasing hip-hop’s transformative power.

Locally, Kinetic Vibez partners with organizations such as the Houston Independent School District and the Boys and Girls Club of America to reach underrepresented youth. Integrating hip-hop and mindfulness-based curricula, Kinetic Vibez equips students with strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and depression while fostering creative skills for future academic and career opportunities. The organization also extends its impact into corporate training, offering workshops that enhance emotional intelligence, creativity, and team-building.

Rovion Reed’s other venture, TheGr8Thinkaz, amplifies the mission of Kinetic Vibez. This creative collective focuses on artistic collaboration, cultural expression, and community upliftment. By bringing together artists, producers, and educators, TheGr8Thinkaz creates platforms for creative expression and mental wellness.

Based in Houston, Texas, and Chicago, Illinois, TheGr8Thinkaz hosts events, produces content, and develops educational programs that merge hip-hop culture with broader artistic and social movements. Through this work, they foster community engagement and deliver impactful experiences in partnership with corporate and creative entities. Together, Kinetic Vibez and TheGr8Thinkaz create a ripple effect of mindfulness, innovation, and cultural appreciation, promoting healing and transformation through the arts.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Kinetic Vibez, is rooted in using the power of hip-hop culture and mindfulness to create positive social change. Our unique blend of creativity, emotional wellness, and cultural relevance sets us apart. We specialize in providing programs that teach people—especially youth—how to cope with stress, anxiety, and depression using music production, yoga, art, and mindfulness practices. By integrating hip-hop culture, we connect with participants in a way that feels authentic and accessible to their lives, making mental health education more relatable.

One of my proudest moments in business has been our work with the Boys and Girls Club. It was a profoundly personal and full-circle experience for me. Growing up, I spent countless afternoons at the Boys and Girls Club after school. Then, in college, I worked there, helping out as a mentor. Now, having the opportunity to give back by recreating a hip-hop and literacy curriculum that will serve over 400,000 youth nationwide feels incredibly rewarding. It’s more than just creating a program—it’s about contributing to the same organization that shaped me as a young person and now being able to influence the next generation through the power of hip-hop, literacy, and education. This full-circle moment is a testament to the impact that organizations like the Boys and Girls Club can have, and I’m proud that Kinetic Vibez gets to be a part of that story.

Getting to where I am today has been challenging. Kinetic Vibez was born out of a desire to address mental health needs in underserved communities. I started the business while working as a 5th-grade reading and social studies teacher. I saw firsthand how stress and emotional challenges affected my students, which motivated me to create something to help them develop coping tools through creativity and mindfulness.

Starting a business in this space came with its own set of challenges. We had to navigate funding limitations, overcome skepticism about the fusion of mindfulness and hip-hop, and tackle the typical difficulties of running a small business. However, we pushed through by building solid relationships, showing the real-world impact of our programs, and staying focused on our mission to empower and uplift communities through the arts and mental wellness.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of community and collaboration. We didn’t grow alone; our success is tied to the partnerships and people who believed in the vision from day one. From working with school districts like Houston ISD to being involved with organizations like the Arts Connect, we learned how to scale our efforts and adapt our programs to different environments.

What I want the world to know about Kinetic Vibez and my journey is that we are proof that you can fuse passion, creativity, and purpose to create something that has a lasting impact. Our brand is not just about offering classes or workshops—it’s about creating spaces where people can heal, grow, and express themselves in ways they never thought possible. We’re dedicated to transforming lives through the arts and mindfulness, and I’m excited for what’s to come.
