We had the good fortune of connecting with Ruben Alvarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ruben, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
It is three parts. Consistency, Drive and Winning. People will want to work with you if they see these three things.
You need to be seen and it needs to be daily. The moment you give up or do not show a consistent pattern, it makes people doubt you and the business. When they see consistency, it will show them your drive.
Drive is equal to ambition. Are your goals big enough? Can people root for you because they know you are the real deal? Do not allow your followers or clients to get bored with you.
Finally, all of this means nothing without winning. I can have big ideas but if I lose all the time, no one will care. You need to win. It’s a three part formula, but the last one matters the most.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of the basic principles of life is do what is easy and life will be hard. Do what is hard and life will be easy.
My biggest challenge was knowing what was hard and doing it anyway. I knew, like many others that you need to invest in your business when it starts. There is no profit in the beginning.
I spend 20K in the first 3 months after opening the business. We got the best equipment and software’s. Nothing was impossible that people asked for because we were prepared for it.
It is too easy to pocket profit when you know it should be reinvested back in your business. It has taken a lot of discipline and I have needed to swallow my ego a lot of times, but it is necessary.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Houston and the diversity of the city. I think it is one of the best places to meet new people from every race and background. Due to this, I think the most fun places are as follows.
Of course we would start at the museum district. There are choices and variety. Can make a whole day just there.
Buffalo Bayou Park has always been a favorite of mine, along with the Houston Zoo.
To end it, Houston has a lot of street art that I know any one of my friends would appreciate.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Every person who pushes me forward when I want to quit or give up. When I doubt myself, I highly fallback on the confidence others have in me. I have mentors, sure, but it is the people who are striving to get the the top with me that mean the world to me.
Samuel from Diamond Mindset, Scott Mason, Raymond Wright, John Stankiewicz. John Rivas, Sam Meza, Angel Sandoval, and many others.
Above all others, it has to be my wife, Carolina Alvarez. She is the backbone of the business. Without her, nothing would be possible.
