We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
My entire life, I have had to take risks. Risks in my personal life, risks in my professional life, and risks in my business life. I have never been one to shy away from a challenge, and I firmly believe that the only way to achieve success is to be willing to take risks.
In my opinion, the biggest reason why people are unwilling to take risks is because they allow fear to control them. Fear of failure, fear of the unknown, and fear of taking risks can all lead to a person remaining in their comfort zone and never achieving their full potential.
I believe that anyone who wants to be successful in business must be willing to take risks. The real estate business is full of risks, but it is also full of rewards. High risk, high reward.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I created our team and the processes that are highly efficient and effective. Prior to real estate, I worked in the nonprofit sector, where I had to cultivate talent and develop relationships which were paramount in my success. My interest in real estate was sparked while dabbling into investment properties. I pride myself on being a full-service resource who adds ample hands-on expertise to every transaction with my clients. I want every client that works with our team to feel like they have had the best real estate experience of their lifetime. Our mission is “Luxury Service, No Matter the Price Point”. I aim to be a superior communicator and I work hard to create a strong sales with elite problem-solving and negotiation skills. I serve buyers, sellers, investors, developers and relocators, The Adams Group has earned a distinguished track record of success and over-ask sales for clients throughout the Southwest Houston area.
The biggest lesson I have learned through my career is to not be afraid of failing, but never quit, and never give up, and always keep fighting. My favorite quote is from Michael Jordan, who said “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” This has been my story as well. Life’s failures have been my greatest successes.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would wake up early and go saltwater fishing in the Galveston Bay. After catching a great amount of fish, we would stop by Hummels and get a “Scotty not so Snotty” breakfast sandy from Hummels. We would then drive to the Houstonian and enjoy a fantastic round of golf. Have lunch in the club.
My favorite thing about Houston is the wide variety of restaurants that are available to enjoy. Houston has the best food.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was raised by my single mother, who did everything she could to provide the opportunity for me to get me to where I am at today.
I also have had a phenomenal amount of men in my life that have passed on their leadership and their wisdom to help me succeed in business.
