Meet Sam Matthews | Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sam Matthews and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sam, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a parent, I feel that what we do in our personal life, closely parallels what we do in our professional. The values and virtues which I try to uphold for our business are the same goal lines which I try to instill for my children to strive for: Hard work, detailed analysis, positive mindset, and a desire to contribute to the community.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Forging one’s own path, whether it be glamorous, successful, or exceedingly difficult, is the most meaningful experience an individual can pursue. When I look back at the adventures my life has followed, from small town life in Southwest Missouri to the great metropolises of China, personal challenges and the ultimate test of parenthood, I am greatly blessed to have found a life/career which awards me the opportunity of making a positive impact in my community, through supporting the artistic endeavors of young and older folk alike. For me, having the opportunity to share my experience and knowledge of the violin family/music to the community is a way for me to make the world a little bit closer together. 

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston is a mecca for AMAZING food. We are a melting pot of cultures, and there is so much to explore – Indian, Mediterranean, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, American, Mexican, Venezuelan, the list goes on and on. Some of my favorite spots are: Star Pizza, Cafe Caspian, Fadi’s, the Hobbit Cafe, and don’t forget your local taco stand!! If you are hungry in the mind/heart, instead of the stomach, we have an amazing Houston Museum of Natural Science center downtown (my kids love the dinosaurs!), the Houston Symphony, and countless other treasures to visit and enjoy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
For the past 13 years, my wife has been by my side every step of the way – she is my partner in this crazy journey we call Life!
