We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Yes I absolutely have a favorite quote! I tell this to my children and anytime I face difficulties this gets me through! “A steady drop of water will bust a rock” in other words keep going be consistent and don’t quit, something’s bound to happen!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Master Stylist, I love to be creative with Color, Shortcuts and Silkpress. Wya to sets me apart from others is my personality, I’m fun, full of energy and love to see beautiful transformations and boosting my clients confidence to the next level! I get extremely excited to see my clients reactions, after I reveal their hair to them. The road to my success started with I was pregnant at 15, a dropout raising a child, married at 19 for 15 years raising my children working in corporate America in jobs that required degrees but I always got hired because of my personality and ability to learn quickly. For a year I assisted a relative braiding for sewing on weekends while working during the week. After seeing my cousins success I inquired about beauty school and registered at Franklin Beauty School, I participated in classes with my cousin and one day I met my mentor Patric Bradley at a class we exchanged information. When I graduated from Franklin I contacted him and was introduced to Kay Simpson and begin to work with both. I traveled with Patrics Team Hollywood learning and perfecting my craft all while assisting. I built my clientele as I educated myself. Assisting was not easy but well worth it, I would not be where I am without assisting, that was my knowledge soak up time, and I soaked it up!! I over came my challenges by seeing the reward instead of the labor and sacrifice for the reward. Some of the lessons I’ve learned is no matter what dont quit and do not doubt yourself always believe in you. What I want people to know is it doesn’t matter your background where you come from or what you’ve been through If Gods hand is in it, you can’t fail.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friends were in town I’ll take them to City centre! I love that place! We will enjoy lunch, catch a movie at Studio movie grill do some shopping, eat crawfish, enjoy Sunday Funday at few brunch spots such as Snooze, Chapman and Kirbys, Max’s Wine and Dive. We will go to the beach like surf side and enjoy the sun and end the week with a spa day! I love genuine loving and honest people! Just give it to you straight because that’s exactly who I am! Some fun places to checkout are the Color factory, The museum of Fine Arts and I simply love the Riverdance! If you have never seen the riverdance live you are missing a treat!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Starting at the very beginning of my career before I obtain my license I worked on weekends just braiding hair for sewing for my cousin Misty at Divine Kimisty for a year or two and after obtaining my license I met someone in a hair class with my cousin, Patric Bradley, one of the top 10 stylist in the country! I followed him to True Perfection Salon where I was introduced to Kay Simpson, I traveled and assisted these two for years perfecting my craft and learning and soaking up the knowledge that they do possess. Even until this day, I still recall and keep up with these two instruments the lord used to help in my career. I’m forever grateful to all who played a role in my career!
