We had the good fortune of connecting with Samuella Bangura and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samuella, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The reason why I started my own business is because in a way, having a “business mindset” is all I ever knew growing up. My parents owned groceries stores, my mother owned a fashion boutique in my country and they also have several real estate properties. They instilled in me that the key to financial freedom is having multiple streams of income and entrepreneurship.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Dose of Ella Events means everything to me. Nothing great in life comes easy and starting this business in the beginning was definitely a challenge. I went from curating small events for friends and families to now customers who are investing their hard earned money towards my skills. It was tough in the beginning, discussing budgets, discovering trusted vendors and so on. Today, we are still growing but I am happy to be in this position with a strong team.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Houston, I’ll take them to Bisou on Wednesday. The vibe and asthetics of this restaurant is breathtaking and it’s ladies night on Wednesdays. I’m Sierraleonean, so Afro beats is everything to me. For nightlife, I’ll take them to O2 or Domain to dance and listen to great vibes. Sunday I love to brunch, so a great brunch spot I’ll take them will be Amahle, Bloom & Bee. Houston have amazing places to hang out. So I’m sure our options will be unlimited.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My fiancé is my biggest support system when it comes to the success of my businesses. Before I met him, I was living comfortably making 90k a year as an oncology nurse manager. He pushed me to follow my dreams and making my vision into reality. He’s my secret weapon and he motivates me to be my best self.
