We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandra Del Cid and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sandra, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Individuals who have never worked in the film industry have no idea how much work it takes to make a film. It is a long process. Finding the right actor, the right location, the right outfit. The perfect crew, camera man, editor, someone to help with lights and sounds. I think after everything is filmed the editing is the most difficult, finding the best scene, putting it together. It took me maybe fours hours of work to get a 5 minute scene, I worked in many big productions as an actor and is pretty much the same. we film one scene more then once to pick the best one.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I consider myself an artist with many hats. Due to budget I wore many hats for my feature film, Raquel’s Legacy. I was the writer, producer, director and the main actress. I know Sandra Bullock does this as well but she has a million dollar budget so it is more difficult when you have a small budget so for us the indie film makers we put extra work and extra sweat. I am very proud that I was able to take my movie to Rome, Italy. Not everyone gets to travel to Italy and in my film there are some nice views of Italy. Making a movie is very difficult, the key is to keep pushing and not give up. I am now submitting to film festivals and looking forward to more red carpets.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston has a lot to see. I would take my friend to the Herman Memorial park and then stop at the zoo. I also spend a lot of time in Galveston, I love the ocean. Kemah is gorgeous. I love Niko’s. Nikos in River oaks. I love Greek food and they have out door eating so on a not too hot day I would love to take my friend to Niko. Nikos. Fogo De Chao at the Woodlands is also one of my favorite spots. As you can see I love meat, definitely not a vegetarian here. I love visiting the museums in Houston as well, Museums give us a lot of education.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Tim Ballard with Operation underground railroad is who I dedicate this article too. This man puts his life at risk to rescue victims of sex trafficking, he is an Angel on earth! My movie is fiction but it has the noble cause to bring awareness so that hopefully teenagers will be less trusting and more careful. They are looking for young women and some can be very naïve. Some are lured in trough Facebook, fake modeling jobs, fake love offers, some are just taken while they are jogging and a white van just shows up. We need to teach our children to be cautious!
