Meet Saniya Jivani | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Saniya Jivani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Saniya, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
A dream! yes a dream that I saw as a little girl. Every girl enjoys shopping especially name brand items, and I always wanted to grow up into something where people wear my name brand. Starting my business was driven by a desire for anatomy, creativity, a passion to do something of my own. I wanted a freedom to pursue my own ideas, and create something beautiful, and meaningful. I want to make something that creates positive impact in the world in my own unique way. I was willing to embrace challenges, learn from failures, and adapt along the way. Ultimately, it’s a driven by a combination of passion, determination, and a clear sense of purpose.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always had a passion in makeup since I was 10 years old. I bought my first makeup kit when I was 16 as my sweet 16 birthday gift. It started of with just a playful makeup lover, and then slowly I started getting more and more attach to it. I was doing makeup on my family, friends and even my brother. Today I can say I am proud I never put my makeup brushes down. I am trilled to be a makeup artist, I strive to enhance natural beauty, and create unforgettable transformations. I am honored to wield my brushes as tools of empowerment, helping clients embrace their unique beauty and unleash their inner confidence. To be where I am it wasn’t an easy journey. I chose a comfortable path to be a part of a medical field since my family wasn’t in acceptance towards my passion in makeup. I finished my school, graduated and got married to the love of my life that I dated for 10 years, but I didn’t realize the person I am marrying to will believe in me and give me a strength to run towards my dreams and passion. As I went back to makeup world It was challenging to adapt new skills, build portfolio, networking, self-promoting, and one of the worst competition. Despite these challenges my passion and strong work ethics lead me to a successful career. The biggest lesson I learned towards my journey is patience and confidence is the key to work towards my goal. As me being a makeup artist we are the unsung heroes behind the scenes, wielding their brushes to transform faces and elevate beauty to an art form, and that is what my business Poshhperfection brings to the clients. It is my goal to bring your vision to life by understanding personality and occasion, and make you feel radiant and satisfied.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Houston I would say we are known for food! I would definitely take her to Rodeo goat, the Burgers are juicy and delicious, Trill burgers, but get there early since the line is always long, Hopdoddy burger bar, Yoyos hot dog, The original Ninfas, and make her try their fajitas and pina colada. North Italia, maggiano’s little Italy, The Gypsy Poet best pizza ever. For dessert Amy’s ice cream, Marble slab, Amorino Gelato-River Oaks. Speaking of River Oaks we would definitely hang out there. We would go to Buffalo Bayou park do some trails, check out beer can house, color factory to take some cool pictures, memorial park, and River Oaks district for shopping. Also for shopping we would go Galleria Mall and 290 mall, and for the activities we would go escape room, top golf, bowling in Houston funplex, rooftop cinemas where they play classical movies and discovery green.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Aaqib Jivani. He is the reason why I have started my Journey of becoming a makeup artist. He saw my talent in a unique way and pursue me to be who I am today, and still encouraging me to do more.
